One thing I found is to sometimes leave 2 units instead of one in certain territories can do a lot more damage to the invading territory and possibly prevent their invasion for cheap.

I've been playing risk since 6 years old it was the predilect board game in my house, I like Drew's videos cus they are like a window into the mid of a newbie and when I play the game with my friends I can see them thinking the same

I’ve been playing this version of Risk for sometime, and I have some strategies. 1. You should always have about 2x the forces your opponent has when attacking, you don’t need more except for low numbers like 1-2, in which case you need 4 and 5-6 respectively to guarantee capture. 2. If you leave two units to defend instead of one, the AI will either ignore you or take more losses when attacking you. 3. Only fortify around your frontline, continuously move your defensive troops in response to the shifting frontline. 4. Always have a plan from the start. You can edit that plan as you go along, but always have a starting plan. 5. If you have the chance to eliminate a player/AI that has 2+ cards, take it, it’s almost always worth the risk. 6. Don’t use Blitz Roll, use manual with three dice. You can change your dice rolling in game using the arrows around your dice when attacking. 7. Always try to take at least one territory unless absolutely impossible. Getting cards is one of the only chances you have of saving yourself when you are low on territory and aren’t getting many troops every turn.

Challenge for Drew: You are not allowed to fully control an area of the board until someone is eliminated. If you eliminate them, you can gain control of two territories. This rule is lifted when it gets to a 1 v 1. ALSO play in “blind” mode. So for example, if two people/bots are eliminated and you are responsible for one, you get to control 3 areas of the board.

5:44 you should get this territory because the AI has to split their army to not just get obliterated by you. Therefore they pose less of a threat

The one issue with only playing against bots is there is no diplomacy. Do you ever play against other human players? If not, you're missing a really large and interesting part of the game. Whereas the bots are designed to simply expand and take land where they can get it, you can work with other humans and have peaceful borders (until someone backstabs the other), can work together to take out mutual opponents, can trade sectors for cards, and engage in the psychological aspects of war with other people.

If you play against AI, you can usually win by monopolizing an easy to defend place in the beginning, and then just growing while they don’t have monopolies
