It’s strange to look at a person who walks without a hat in 20-degree frost, even when the snow is falling. Last year I observed the following picture: bitter frost, everyone is bent over from the cold, a bald man without a hat is walking, snow falls on his shiny bald head and blows away because it does not melt. The first thing I thought was that she would get sick.
I have a friend like that, she walks around without a hat in any weather, she says I can’t walk in it, they don’t suit me and get in my way, she can only raise the collar so that it doesn’t blow into my neck. Maybe that man doesn’t like hats and caps either.
It’s easier for women; you can find a replacement. For example, throw a scarf over your head, put on a beret, headband, snood or hat.
Lately, hoods have become increasingly popular; they are loose, do not interfere with hairstyles, and protect from wind and cold. A type of hood is a hood. This is a headdress like a hood, but it covers not only the head, but also the neck.
Cozy, warm, deep and an excellent replacement for a hat.
The model I want to offer is very comfortable, completely covering the neck and cheekbones. Soft, warm fabrics are suitable for sewing: angora, thick knitwear, fleece, thin fur.
The hood itself consists of 4 identical parts. You can make the outer part from one fabric, and the inner part from another. Another detail is a scarf-collar, consisting of a strip 54 x 26.5 cm.
1) First, I connected and stitched two parts of the hood.
2) Then I folded these two pieces and sewed the front seam. I turned the hood inside out and sewed a stitch along the edge, leaving a margin of 1.5 cm.
3) Placed the corners one on top of the other at a distance of 23.5 cm.
4) Folded the scarf and stitched. One edge was overcast.
5) I put the hood into this collar and stitched it, the other edge was left unsewn.
6) I folded the crow over to the other side and hand sewed it to the inside of the hood. You can sew along the overcast side or turn it under and sew.
7) When you put on a hood, you fold the collar up, and not down as usual.
To make the hood truly winter, you can sew on fur, which is what I did. Now this is a warm headdress, with which any frost is not scary.
You can combine such an accessory with any thing, the main thing is that it matches the color.
All the best!
