Bro we were blessed to be exposed to great music. I grew up on Parliament, Allan Holdsworth and RUSH. La Villa was the very first song I learned on bass the best I could from ear, just to be able to jam out with my childhood drummer buddy.

We're always happy to welcome another member of the Rush family; I know it does my old heart good to see younger folks discover them. And not gonna lie, you comparing them to a Thanksgiving dinner is probably the best description of them that I've heard. This song was inspired by a long, disturbing dream Alex once had.

Alex is incredible & doesn't get enough credit for his playing imo. My favourite quote about this song is from him: "When I wrote the guitar parts for the song, I wasn't good enough to play them. Now I play it while sitting on the couch watching TV." You're exactly right that Rush got better with age. I saw them on this tour & they were just incredible.

If anyone can emote through a guitar it is Alex Lifeson! It touches your soul. This came out in 1978 when the guys were in their mid 20's and it is based on a series of nightmares that Alex Lifeson had especially when they were on tour. If you listen to the studio version instead of the polka music it is Alex shredding on an acoustic guitar. I suggest Secret Touch from the Snakes and Arrows tour and Digital Man also from the Snakes and Arrows tour. Great Reaction 💜

Yeah, these guys are the real deal. Rush are one of the most respected rock bands in the world and for good reason. They are all virtuoso musicians in their own right, with Neil, the drummer, cited as one of, if not THE greatest rock drummer of all time. A band career spanning over 4 decades, these guys are absolutely in a class of their own.

Rush is the benchmark for the rest of us to catch up with. Not only musically, but everything about them makes a huge impact in our lives from how to conduct business, take care of family, doing whatever your heart tells you is right, against all odds, believing in yourself taking care of yourself and being consistent in every aspect of life to be the best YOU can be, not better than anyone else but compete with you. If you know you can do better THAN DO IT, instead of thinking well I SHOULD’VE tried harder🤯no next time I will try harder and if that doesn’t do it, try even harder next time!#RIPNEP🤘🖖✌️🎸🥁🎤🎹

Next thing i know im listening to Spirit of Radio. They rest is history. Almost a handful of concerts and 40 plus years later. My love for this band has only grown as ive matured. IMHO 3 of the best individual musicians ever together in a band. So much music from 3 guys. Its just nuts. Anyway i could go on for long time about Rush, so i better stop before i dont. 😂😂 Again thanks for the music and wonderful reaction.

Rush is the reason I started playing bass guitar in 1982. I heard Moving Pictures in 1981, and the words & music really reached me, so I saved up some money and bought a cheap pawnshop bass. I was 16 years old and didn't have the money for an amplifier, so I just hugged the bass tight to my body and kept my head bent way over so my ears were closer to the strings, that way I could hear & feel the notes I was playing when the song was playing. Still play bass to this day, and I always make sure to play a few Rush songs in my set. My favorites to play along to are: The Fountain of Lamneth, 2112, The Camera Eye, Red Barchetta, Natural Science, The Analog Kid, Leave That Thing Alone, The Necromancer, By-Tor and the Snowdog, and La Villa Strangiato. I learned a lot more Rush songs than those, but those are my favorites to play. I'm not afraid to admit, as a confident manly-man, that a lot of Rush songs make me cry, for both joy and sorrow. I love Rush so much that I used Blender 3D to make a 3-D model of their 2112 album cover art, modified with my username logo instead of the red star and circle, and I use that as my profile pic.

A very difficult to perform song they wrote in their 20's they are performing in their 50's and they change it up and add new and silly elements but perform it better than they have ever performed it before almost like its too easy now. Masters of their craft at the pinnacle of their skill (at the time).

Reminiscent of his closing solo in Xanadu, Alex's solo here starts slowly with a jazz/blues influenced into. (down to the hollow body Gibson ES guitar he's playing - that was popular with Jazz and Blues artists like B.B. King's iconic "Lucille") and gradually builds to a climax. It's soulful. That's what brings out the emotion. He plays in a very emotive way, as if he's literally expressing his emotions through the guitar. It's why George Harrison wrote, "While My Guitar Gently Weeps". When musician and instrument become one and the guitar becomes an extension of the musician, it's a spiritual thing. Alex achieves that beautifully in "Strangiato".

Rush afficinados, correct me if I am wrong, but this is one of the only tours they actually played this song live. Alex did not believe he could reproduce the brilliance he lay down for the studio album, so they never played it live, until this tour. He felt he was good enough at this point in his career to do it. Seen them live 9 times, including this tour. Miss them. In my heart, they are the best at each instrument they play, some would disagree, but that is my opinion. RIP Neil, you will be forever missed.

The polka music at the beginning was added for this tour for the 1st time. Look up Rush at the Pink Pop Festival in 1979, to get the true live version right after they made that song played live for the first time after recording it. Also another note: there is a you tube video of this song played in Boston on this tour where Alex lost his amps at the beginning of this song, it is really funny to watch how the 3 of them melded together till his amp feed was fixed.!

There are few bands that can reach right into you and grab you by the spine. Rush is one the elite top tier bands. A few other favorites are Dream Theater, Savatage, Pink Floyd, Blue Oyster Cult and Nightwish. They all have Very styles. They are all greater than the sum of their parts. They have all enriched my life. So much great music is out there waiting for you. To hear the really good stuff, find out who your heroes listen to. Enjoy the journey, I know I did. ✌️🖖

If you had never been exposed to musicians of this caliber in your life, then how would you have known they existed at all? The lightbulb moment is palpable...
