I just finished building the handrail on my deck kzfaq.infoUgkxfQ5_mgwq6PcudJvAH25t-I4D-3cTPz4z and used this great little router to clean up the top rail before the final sanding and stain. It was light weight but packed lots of power. Either size battery didn't seem to make it top heavy and I'm a 64 yr old women so I really appreciated how easy it was to use...................... CORDLESS only way to go !!

I remember your first couple videos of Jobs and "The Duke" - never could really duplicate your results - but only tried a couple times and then moved on. Need to go retry. You have come a long way in your KZfaq journey as well as your woodworking business. Love your energy. I may want to take a road trip later to Texas just to visit so many makers/KZfaqrs in Texas. So true, you never really know until you sand.

I usually use sanding sealer, or even lacquer as a pre coat. Looks like you used the hatching carve and not the cross hatching, like I usually do. Nice to see how well it worked out for you, I might need to try that.

Nice big photo job. I am just a hobbyist, but I do have a heavy 4x4 CNC. I always seal wood to prevent bleed. I have done a few of these including just making dots instead of lines.

I built an 80W CO2 laser engraver , it makes pictures by burning into the wood. I've found alder (species of tree) to be a good substrate. $10 wood, some time making a tool path (creating G code) and do what he did. Also, made jewelry boxes with laser engraved images and fill in with color is optional. for $125 up.

Hey There, The first video of yours I ever watched was the other John Wayne carving you spoke of. I think they both turned out great but I'm leaning towards the first one you made, maybe because of the hand sanding ? being able to hit those darker areas a little longer to lighten and get some more detail. ? the Steve Jobs came out great too. Always cool stuff, thanks for sharing.

Hello my friend, thank you for this good movie. Please produce and upload more of these wood carving videos. There are many questions about the Steve Jobs clip, please answer. 1- For example, what is the exact type of the board you are carving on (especially the specifications of the board coating) and how did you manage to make that white epoxy coating on the board? 2- How to paint photos with epoxy?

Normally you're bang on with the cost/investment. Setting up the wood, time for wood to dry & then flatteh, then the graphic / cam, then 2 hrs cutting, then spray paint, then skim, $200 didn't cover it!

One other thought - you didn't teach how to setup the carve in vCarve Pro like you did in your videos a couple years ago. You may want to add a card into the video pointing to those videos you previously made - will help people and also drive people to another of your videos. Again - well done.
