Not only are these fun videos, but the price point per item is realistic for most who don't have a bins to source. A follow up video in a few months how everything sold would be interesting!

On the drawstring, pull it all the way out and then use the safety pin to feed it back through. Should be a quick fix.

You might think the prices are on the high side but, they are close to what I pay at my local thrift store. But I will find similar pieces once in a two or three hour shop. I also think that it is your eye that gives you an edge no matter what price you pay

You obviously know what you’re doing. You’ve been doing this for a while. I personally wouldn’t have picked out those items or paid that much for them. I also resell on the side as a hobby, so maybe I don’t have an eye for what sells well. I would be very curious for follow-up video in six months to go over the ones that have sold and perhaps the ones that haven’t. As long as you’re happy, that’s all that matters! ❤

I think this is great, Mackenzie. Most resellers online mistake gross and net profit (net profit from an accounting POV is gross profit minus business expenses, depreciation, amortization, and taxes). At the end of the fiscal year, the cost of selling each item is actually more than what most folks think. So, if you're able to reduce the expenses as much as possible, it's a win win. You also know your customer and shop well, so other people's opinions on what they think will sell based on their individual experience and customer base is kind of irrelevant. Also, kind of interesting because I sell smaller sizes exceptionally well and can never move larger sizes so I think you offering size variation across the board is fabulous. Keep rockin'

This is literally the sourcing method I used in my first 2-3 months reselling. It helped me get my feet wet at a very low COG. Now you’ve inspired me to maybe try again!

They make a gadget now that puts those drawstrings back in. I ordered one off of Amazon for a few bucks and it works great. I just pull them out and re thread them

I always shop thredup when they do their 70% off sales (usually the weeks surrounding holidays). I’m mostly able to get smaller size bread and butter but it’s convenient.

I was intrigued that most of what you bought was in smaller sizes because I know you sell a lot of larger sizes too. I'm guessing it was because what you liked just happened to all be small. Good luck with the haul!

I buy a lot from ThredUp, usually the smaller sizes are more affordable and there’s a greater quantity of them.

When I get a string lost I pull it out and then put it in a straw and pull it back through that way. It’s super easy

Sourcing from diverse platforms is always a positive. Time is money and has to always be factored in. In this case less time spent and good quality pieces still equates to a decent profit margin. It’s all about balancing your time overall.

I probably would not have paid that much only because I have two great independent charity shops and a Goodwill bins near me. I rarely pay more than $5 an item and usually closer to $3. I definitely think you will make a profit.

I personally wouldn't spend that much on those items, but sometimes I do pay more (especially for certain brands of leather bags, where I have paid around $50 if I know the comps justify it). I can't move my Nation and Moth items, so that's one reason. And as far as saving time by sourcing online (which I do too), shopping at the bins is fun for me. Listing and shipping is what feels like work, so saving time sourcing isn't a big incentive for me to pay more. Please do share how it goes! I'd love to know what your minimum profit-per-item target is. (I know you like to have a minimum of $28 sale, but I'm more curious about net profit.)

the drawstring thing happened to me before too and I used a long either pencil or something like that wrapped the drawstring thats visible around it and stuck it through and grabbed the fabric so it bunched up as the pencil went through and got the drawstring through. Hope that helps!
