I see why you do what you do. However by listing your clothes on eBay or similar. Is depriving people who are low income of having nice clothes. Ok you’re taking time to do it but personally I think it’s crap. I hope you never are in need of goodwill

Hi! Thank you for your opinion, but there are millions of tons of clothing that gets donated to Goodwill. I could never buy it all and Goodwill can't even sell it all. The amount of clothing that ends up in landfills is astonishing. By buying and selling used clothing it prolongs the life of clothing and keeps at least SOME of it from ending up in the landfill! Thanks for watching :)

She is not taking away from anyone. She is able to create her own job which is the Goodwill motto, "Putting people back to work". She is adding to the economy and there are so many clothes that goodwill gets, plenti for everyone. She is doing what is right for her. The clothes are not just for people in need, it is for anyone. There are also people that purchase at goodwill to give to people in need. I believe you should look at it differently.

The clothes are there about 5 weeks and then they go to the Goodwill purchase per pound. Then the clothes and shoes go overseas for people that need them.

There are a few too many people on here who need to wake up. If you don't like what she's doing or the thousands that also do it, then you better run out and start shopping at Goodwill's to prevent us from going. Stores like this are thrilled that they're selling the items. There is still a ton left over that will never get sold, that people have access to. Keep clutching those pearls.

Yes, that was my feeling as I watched it...why the heck would I pay the same or more for a USED item that I don't even get to try on. It's a smart business idea in general, but I can't believe that most of those items would sell.

Prices at thrifts shops, specially goodwill, have increased a lot. Half shop for personal use, and half to resale. Not judging your business, don't get me wrong please. Just sad that they increased prices so much in clothes and other items that have been donated. The people that shop for personal use, can't hardly afford anymore:( Sometimes, they sell items way more costly than the brand itself during a sale or clearance.

Ann L Which IMO is why I think the remarks about “taking away from the poor” are ridiculous. If u need to find nice, affordable clothes there are many other options, Ross and TJMaxx clearance sections, eBay, garage sales, etc. I’ve been there, trust me. I think it’s why I’ve been a successful reseller.

Exactly, you used to be able to buy a nice outfit under 10.00 now you better have 30.00 or more and it's a shame that they're pricing based on designer too, it never used to be that way.

Right I mean they are rising prices. I think taking from the poor is a sort of bad argument at least in my town there is a free clothing store for the poor. I dont think resale is wrong however as a customer looking for a gem it is a bummer. I mean I appreciate some good tupperware finds. Went in one day and saw some guy walking around with every single piece of Tupperware in his cart. Had to be a reseller.

It may have been worth it to have it repaired or if someone sewed but tricky. If any material is folded over the lost sequins could be taken off there and sewed to where it was missing but if they are sewn on in chain stitch manner you have to secure the line you cut it from. Crown & Ivy is sold at Belk stores. I'm surprised you found so many name brand items as most of these thrift stores sift through this stuff and list it on Ebay themselves which is so wrong! I am also surprised at how much you say you're going to list that stuff for as I've recently sold really high dollar items like Prada, Dolce & Gabanna and this stuff was like new as it was mine and I couldn't hardly give it away! I used to do what you're doing 15 years ago but most of my stuff was either mine or stuff I bought at discount designer stores. I have found that people are not buying anymore like they used to. I cannot believe the prices of used clothes on Ebay, I mean most of them are being sold at what they'd cost new! I see why no one's buying!

I really enjoy your videos. I love how you get right to it, move alot of information our way very quickly. Your Brand knowledge is on point and so much more I could go on... So thank you! I struggle with lighting correctly. Ugh. I've tried so many different things. Even took them outside-still not really great. Do you use your phone? Which lighting kit do you Love? Thanks in advance. I love looking forward to new videos from you :)

Thank you! I do take all photos on my phone. I use a softbox lighting kit. If you click on the Amazon link in the description box it takes you to a page with all the items I use and the lights are on there. I also have a "Thrift To List" video that shows my photo setup if you want to check that out!

Empty Hanger fantastic! thank you so much for your reply. Your pictures in your closet looks so nice and clear and I think this will help. I will watch your video as soon as I get a chance. And congratulations on having such a fantastic business. It's really hard to stay consistent with sales. I work full time but I love selling on Poshmark so much I wish I had more time to do so. Thank you for all your content. You are one of my favorite channels that I watch!!!

I agree with many of the commenters, your prices are extremely high for used clothing. A pair of Kohl shorts for $40 is crazy, you can purchase brand new on sale for less. If you shop Macy’s and Nordstrom for sales you also would pay less than what you are listing,amazed you sell at these prices.Good luck with your business.

I especially love your thrift with me videos, so thank you for sharing! Do you have any tips for time management when hunting? I find myself spending way too much time in one section, like tops for example, and before I know it two hours has passed and I haven't found much! Do you check every tag?
@EmptyHanger
@EmptyHanger 6 жыл бұрын
I go quickly through racks and usually "feel' the item. You can tell if an item is quality by the fabric and then if it feels nice I check the tag!

Have you ever been concerned about picking up counterfeits while thrifting? I didn't know I had fake designer heels until I looked them up today to check the authenticity for a potential buyer. I found them at a thrift store and was so scared about almost selling a fake. I took them down of course. Any experience or tips on stuff like this? Love your videos :)
@EmptyHanger
@EmptyHanger 6 жыл бұрын
Yes I always check for authenticity when thrifting designer items. There is a lot of information online about different designers and how to tell if an item is fake. Also, if you buy something you could take it to a local consignment store and they can usually authenticate for you. (Pretend you are looking to consign it)

Empty Hanger .....same here ESPECIALLY with Coach and MK purses. I recently found a $448 MK bucket bag satchel. It was 100% authentic and I couldn't believe I only paid $30 for it at Greedwill. I've got it for sale but love it and will probably wind up keeping it, lol.

I doubt she actually sells them for that price. With used items people will negotiate prices and with her being so desperate to sell because she goes to Goodwill to resell she will just take a low ball offer. I’d be surprised if anyone pays full price for used.
