My "skybase" is also in the desert biom, but on 1 of those high mountains. To get to my base, you need to use the geisers around it to get to a lower "mountain", from there stairs are build to the higher "mountain" which is much bigger and has my village on it. Guaranteed safe.

Regeneration charm helps me stay alive when im starving, so food isnt an issue with the epic regen charm
