We ran into your precious family at the Co-op today!! We didn't want to invade personal space or time....but as we said hello, Rebekah genuinely took her time to acknowledge us and the children were so respectful! I can't imagine what it's like to go places and total strangers recognize you and you have no idea who they are, but a kind hello and greeting was what we received! That speaks volumes for her heart and love for people! And what an example she is setting for her children!!!! If we all would take that same approach to kindness what a wonderful world this would be!!! ,♥️🥰

This long video is like a great book I don’t want to put down. I’m having to watch it over the course of a few days but I can’t get enough. I would like to consider these two guys my mentors and seeing these casual conversations between these great minds is a real treat.

I was 17, I think, when we went to the World's Fair in Montreal (late 60's). My father said, Wait till you taste the beef up here, and he let me order Filet Mignon. He was right. He said it was because their cows were grass fed and in our country, not. I have never forgotten that flavorful meal. I feel honored when I am able to buy beef from a farmer!

It's true that he is getting "free information" from Joel but I'm sure that he had to pay a fee to get Joel out to his place to get this info. So really we are the ones getting the free information or at the least a good taste of what Joel is offering in his courses.

I was blessed to go to Joel's farm polyface years ago. Paid something like $20 to go on a hayride and spent almost the whole day there. Joel was there and answered questions from us for over an hour after the hayride was over. He's a wealth of information and truly loves sharing it with people! Wonderful guy! My favorite book he's written is "Pigness of the pig"

Now I've got a chicken tractor made out of a queen box spring rolling around the back yard. People thought I was crazy but I had green grass in most of the yard all winter 👍🏻👍🏻 and ready to run the following year. Justin is a great teacher as well thanks for the information you share. I definitely agree with Jole about running poultry on the land that needs it. We had horrible grass in our back yard. We put our meat chicken in a mobile run on our horrible grass. Everywhere we had the chickens, the grass came back lush and green.

I have loved Papa Joel since his commanding presence in Food Inc. oh so long ago. When he appeared on screen, butchering chickens outside, I'm like, "He loves Jesus and has wisdom that will be known some day." He's like the grand dad of regenerative (you could say, redemptive) farming.

Watching that cat follow you reminds me when my little children and I would check fence. I'd be in the lead, two children, then the dog, the cats and then the goats and chickens would follow in line. Literally walking the fence with us. So one time we were near the road and this scene caught the eye of a passerby and they pointed and laughed. I looked back to see what they were looking at and realized we were quite the comical scene!

I relate with Justin about thinking that permaculture was just the way things were done, only to realise later just how unique and special it is. My parents have a hobby farm that was in a poor state when they purchased it. Now, 20 years later the soil is alive and the grass is thriving because of their stewardship. I didn't realise just how "hippy" they were when I was a child but am so thankful for their guidance. Now my husband and I are striving to practice permaculture on our little suburban block in Sydney, teaching our daughter the value of life, and the effort and sacrifice that goes into growing food.

When I was a kid, the was this girl who had terrible Eczema, all her joints would crack and bleed, her mother asked my father what could be done as doctors could do nothing for her. My father told her to remove cow milk form everything she consumed and use goat milk instead, that goes to making her, her own chocolate out of goats milk. Within 6 months to a year it had totally disappeared and her skin was normal just like everyone else.

In Denmark due to labor shortage/cost, they have machines in fields that the cow walks in, it sprays udder, adds feed, lines up milking device, attaches and puts milk in temp controlled tank, logs amount collected, reads id tag on cow collar, time and date stamp and how much feed. Milk is pasturized prior to collection. Expensive but totally automated.
