I spent a night ALONE on an ISLAND

I spent the final night in the scottish highlands on one of loch Lomond islands. Wild camping solo on one of these ancient islands was stunning, after packrafting in, I portaged my gear and set up camp.

There is a campsite about a mile from the pub. Back in the 80's and 90's (I know; before you were born😄) you used to be able to camp in the field across the road. I once spent a week camped just over the River (to the left of the pub) next to the footpath that follows the river, no one asked me to move. OK my tent was covered in 6" of snow after the first night and looked like a boulder🤣. There is free camping behind King's House Hotel a few miles further up the glen.

What a spot to have all to yourself! I know what you mean about the feeling at the end of a peaceful trip - getting back on fast roads and heading back to the city is so overwhelming. It's an effort to hang on to that sense of peace and tranquility - we sometimes succeed, at least for a day or two before the intensity of urban life takes over. Having these visual memories is a great help.

Great video as always Becky. You really love Scotland. Loch Lomond is so beautiful and so near Glasgow. Were you camping on Inchtavannach? I know you said Aldochlay in the introduction but that is an area on the shore ... I think? You mentioned the wallabies and they are on Inchconnachan - a little further out into the loch. Anyway, a lovely setting for your last night in Scotland. Thanks for sharing. Haste ye back!

Another great video Becky, Loch Lomond is such a stunning location. The wallabies might not be there much longer, Inchconnachan was sold in 2020 to Kirsty Young (the tv/radio presenter) and her husband and they plan to make a holiday residence and relocate the wallabies. There's been controversy about them for years as they aren't a native species and are potentially a threat to the capercaillie population, but they are also a big draw to tourists visiting the area.

This vid is beautiful, as usual. IDK about the weather. Did you mention wallabies? I thought they were only down under. Reminds me of the 1st time I commented on your channel: "Are there any kangaroos in your area?"🙄 You replied, "unfortunately no"😄 I'm still embarrassed about that but I love your very pronounced accent. Yeah, I think those swans can be vicious. Your teal coloured pack and tent look cool.🇨🇦 Alta.🌺
