Hi Robert, one of the reasons MOST Priests will NOT speak the whole Truth is because they would have to speak about Contraception. It's been that way since the 60's. I'm 73 years old and I saw it with my own eyes!!!

Well said, Robert. My immediate reaction, regarding Fr Burke's courageous stance was to praise him from "high heaven"! In 2018, shortly after the Abortion Referendum, my local priest here in Multyfarnham refused Holy Communion to our local pro-abortion FF politician. I praised him for his stance and he replied " I only want to save his soul"! However, Robert, on mature reflection, with the dictat "do not judge" on my mind, our priests and bishops are in a very difficult position. Where they fall down, I suggest, is their ambivalent protection of the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ. We all know of circumstances where people present for Holy Communion and in all probability are NOT in the state of grace e.g. weddings, funerals etc. How is the Mass celebrant supposed to know who is or is not in the state of grace? How does he know if a person received confession, or not, the night before? One obvious solution, I would suggest, is before each Holy Communion the celebrant announces to their congregation that only Catholics is the state of grace should present themselves for Holy Communion - otherwise they should cross their arms and ask for a blessing.

Its tough to stand for the truth, in word and deed. But this is our calling as catholics to stand for the truth in word and deed. We need to support Father Burke and we need to support all clergy who stand for the truth. Thanks Robert for letting us know about this public witness by Fr.Gabriel.

I’m unpopular at the parish nearest to my home (less than 5 minutes away) because I started receiving Holy Communion on the tongue while kneeling (which I’ve never seen a single other layperson do there). In 2018 the priest who was then lead pastor (and I happen to know for a fact is a registered member of a political party that advocates abortion) denied me Holy Communion at first, then changed his mind and shoved a host in mouth, nearly gagging me. (He has since retired and moved to another parish where he’s still active despite retirement; a son of one of my church buddies is a catechist there, and caught him teaching error!) I stopped regularly attending Mass at that parish and switched to a parish with the TLM about 35 minutes away from me. Pray for Catholic clergy such as Fr. Burke to remain steadfast in orthodoxy and their vocations, and for straying clergy to return to orthodoxy. ✝️🙏📿

Fr. Burke was my religion teacher in secondary school in Cork. He was very very well respected in the community. He is a very devout priest. His religion class was great. He thought us about Catholicism but he also thought us a lot about life. Even the simple things. He is a great communicator.

I agree Robert, it's one I've thought long about. It reminds me a little of wrestling with the idea of (pop) music and politics, I wrestled hard and came to the conclusion politics has no place in music, it's become a thing I live by. For the more serious matter of communion, of course I'd like to be Mr Nice Guy but having considered it, politics has a most profound impact on Catholic life. In a way, it's more serious than most sins, sins are often down to anger, lust, pride etc. but to legislate for something, to coolly introduce abortion into being cannot be expunged or treated as a typical sin.
