Great video Matthew. Well done. It brings back great memories. I'll never forget my first visit to El Cortez. Back in the day, the airplanes had magazines in the seat back pockets. There was an ad for El Cortez and to show your boarding pass for those comps. Tiffany and I both won off the free play. Crazy Money Deluxe was the game and I still play it every time I visit El Cortez.

I like the El Cortez and the overall vibe of Downtown. Being a Blackjack player 3/2 is the main reason.

Matthew, on my next trip to Vegas I plan to stay at the El Cortez. You provided all the information I needed. Thank you for your excellent video (as usual).

I love staying and playing at El Cortez, but I will only stay in the original 47 rooms … no elevators! Love it! It’s just so cool to close your hotel room door walk down some stairs and boom I am in the casino! 🥰🥰🇨🇦🇨🇦

The JG suite is a time capsule in the best possible way! Anywhere else it would have been redone in beige or gray and its history would have been lost. Just love the vibe at the El Cortez. Thanks for the amazing tour. ❤ Paul

Loved the Jackie Gaughan suite - being a baby boomer, the retro vibe brought back fond memories. I have eaten at Siegel's 41 and did enjoy it very much. I would eat at the Cortez...I love Prime Rib and what a good price! The suite looks really nice!

You being Canadian, all you do is Google a US Gambling Tax Recovery company in Canada and they file the papers to get that money back to you. It takes a few months, but it's worth it. Canada's gambling winnings are tax free, so the States honor that. ❤🎉congratulations

I love the El Cortez & I did grab a t shirt there in 2020. The vibe is classic and the deals are great! Great place to gamble and grab a bite.

Stayed last year 2 nights... gonna try 4 nights in May. EC has limited dining options on property BUT it's so easy to walk to places on Freemont. Also no pool area, but so close to the many free entertainment venues under the canopy. Not too crowded... over 21... loose slots... 3:2 blackjack... what's not to like? I will try to say Hi to Adam!

From what I've seen, _El Cortez_ has the best merch game in Vegas as far as Hotels & Casinos go! The only knock is their jackets have been sold out FOREVER! They have a great online store! I can't believe that Hotels & Casinos aren't pimpin' their merch at every property! Sahara recently shut down their online store, not sure if that's just because of their refurbish or not, but it doesn't link anymore. Sahara had cool stuff but it was always sold out too! I tried getting you an Excalibur hoodie but they were cheap and ugly. I think every hotel/Casino should have a quality merch shop on property, focused primarily on clothing! (Have hoodies, have jackets) I didn't win at _El Cortez_ but I had two long sessions without having to add money!

So unique. It was an honor to get that room. Love that room, especially the old school appliances. It brings back memories. Which balcony did you stay on? Lol. Gaming looked great. Congratulations on the Huff N' Even More Puff win. I will stay there when I get back to Vegas.

El Cortez is a great property downtown!

That room is very cool, but super weird with how dated it is. Those outdoor patios though make it super worth the stay I'm sure.

As you mentioned, it's great that it's away from the chaos of freemont street, but close enough to walk to it!. All in all, it's a cozy, classic casino!.

They just got rid of their 3:2 single deck. This now means Treasure Island is home of the most fair, reasonably priced blackjack in Vegas (2D 3:2 S17 DA2 DAS RS4 nRSA) with similarly priced shoe games in high limit with the good rules (6D 3:2 S17 DA2 DAS LS RS4 RSA.)

I used to work at El Cortez from 2010-2011; so much has changed since I worked there. Plus, I used to always see Jackie Gaughan come down to the casino floor to shake the players' hands.

oh wow he quite literally lived at the el cortez that is definitely like a condo in a casino lol. I wonder if this was ever the norm, I could see it possibly WAY back in the day when there wasn't really a ton of development yet. Of course it makes life easier as far as your commute goes but I would feel like people would try to get ahold of me far too often even if I told them to not bother me about certain things when I am back at my condo apartment suite thing, but living there gives the idea in most peoples minds that it is the reason why you're doing it, but that would get tiresome really quickly. Plus even though you feel like you're not in a casino you definitely still are you can't just walk out the back door and be in your back yard with a pool or something. So it would feel like your life just constantly revolves around this casino hotel even if you're just the wife or say one of his kids. Did he always live there when he owned it or just in his later years? Because that would make a little more sense why he moved in there.

What's a ballpark price of that suite?

Not sure what these people are referring to about Canadians not required to pass taxes on gambling winnings I work for the New York State gaming commission and that’s not true all winnings are subject to tax based on location not your citizenship
