Honestly this might just convert me into looking into the MOD series… I have their plastic boards (3068/3098) and they’re nice too, but it would be a great upgrade. Have you tried any of their acrylic sets? They just released an Alice layout one and I’m really curious, hope you’ll review it too soon

those doubleshot abs keycaps are from Aifei if i'm not mistaken, i have used the Arctic set before, they produced a lot of GMK/ePBT.... clones with a lot of compatibilities with almost all layouts. The best thing about it is that their spacebar is straight as heck, so the quality control is even better than GMK, but the font on Enter and Backspace looks really ugly and i cant stand it so i never used it again

he did say that it was sigaporean dollars so its more like 328.21 dollars and q1 already cost like 180 + jades might be 200ish ok nvm they got highkeyed scammed LOL

Well, It costed me like $400 (USD) for my Q1 build... between the board ($170 iso knob v2) + keycaps ($104 PBTFans BOW + international) + switchs (durock POM $60) + stabs (c3 equalz $20) + lube (G205 + G105 $18) + film ($5) + silicone($10) + shipping (around 40 if I add all the different shipping). Most people don't take into consideration that a board like the Q1 does not include shipping that is usually like $20. Also, we don't know if he got the knob or not, that add another $10 (in the video it's calculated without the knob). Moreover, he's not taking into consideration that the lube is not free or cheap. Also, 450 singapore dollars are like 324 US dollars, so that guy didn't waste that much. It's pretty much within what it should cost if you get cheaper switches and keycaps and none of the mods that I added. If you add up what he showed in the video, all those are 247.8 + shipping. Keychron shipping is not cheap... for a Q1 is around $20 to the united states... and keycaps and switch are also not shipping free, so probably like 10 or 20 more there, so around $290 rounded. 450 singapore dollars are like 324 US dollars, so basically he pay $30 for a lube service? Lubbing a whole keyboard would take like 3 to 6 hours depending on your experience, so they are charging like $10/hour. That's a good deal in my eyes.

Would interesting you maybe borrowed the board they paid 450 for, I am interested in seeing why they reccomended a clicky switch to be lubed and if they did it in such a way that did not impact the tactility or click jacket.

Yea, I just lubed my Rk61 non hot swappable blue switch (push stem method). Its a mixed bag. It does feel smoother, and along with foam and tape mod and lubing the stabs, it feels and sound smoother. However there are in consistensies everywhere. In some keys, i dont think the click even happens.... Overall, if i had to do it all over again. I would've not lubed the switch.

Kailh Box Jades don't use click jackets, they use click bars, so lubing them are fine

For clicky switches, only the springs should be lubed, otherwise the click goes away

I think a local shop offering the chance to create your own board in person is really neat. While it's cheaper to order parts online yourself; having the in person experience lets you do it with help and with no wait times. In short you're paying for convenience and keeping the lights on for the shop which is normal.

Nice vid Kinda weird that a store would be willing to lube Kailh Box Jades a year a go… that’s gonna be a bad time since the Box series had that hole in the bottom housing. They’re actually updating and closing that off from what I’ve heard though

The $450 price tag is in SGD right, not USD. So that converts roughly to ~$350 USD. And she would need 90 switches (as they sell in pack of 10) to complete her Q1 instead of just 7. Checking from their site, it's pretty legit that the parts are priced pretty well ($350 SGD total, which is again roughly $250 USD). Just that I think the extra dollars go into the service charge for lubbing and building the keyboard.

You should make a video about " How to pick YOUR keyboard". Many people have hard choices to pick what keyboard they want, especially me! I can't pick between a budget custom or a prebuilt (pc75b plus). I can make them both sound good but it is a hard choice and I need help from all of you.

450 Singaporean dollars for all that including keycaps and a lube service (which they shouldn’t have gotten for Box Jades, but regardless) sounds like a really good price. Quite cheap if you include the price for keeping the shop’s lights open. I don’t understand why you act like that’s not a good deal. That’s a very small markup for getting to try all the parts in-store and have someone help you choose

why did you multiply the switch by 7? you need 83 key for the Q1, so you need 9 packs of 10, so you need another 8.4 for those extra switches that you didn't calculate. If you add up, all those costs are like 247.8 + shipping. I got the GMK Vaporwave and JWK Blacks and I uhh had to paper mod all the caps. As for the switches, they are smooth stock but they sounded a bit better lubed imo

The mod005 is a great budget keyboard, if you think that the kbd67lite is the best budget you should look at the mod005, it's aluminum and comes with a fr4 plate for only 10$ more, the only downside tho is the north facing pcb.

youre actually lucky the clones are a bit of a elevated version of the cherry cause i have the exact keycaps with the molds [the monster keykaps] so there wasn't any interference. i think a majority of clones for that matter solve this issue somehow
