I Survived 100 Days on a Hardcore World but... I could only Breathe Underwater 💦

Hello,
I was looking the other day at some newer modpacks to try on the curseforge launcher for Minecraft Java edition & I stumbled across this little pack that has the Origins mod on it with a few other mods too.
What is the Origins mod?
Well, it makes you(whenever you load up a new world) select an origin(class) which gives you some cool unique perks to your player & some not so cool perks too.
😅
There are many origins to choose from, but I went for the "Merling" origin, which makes it so that I'm basically bound to water, much like a fish is...
Basically, I now breathe water.

I have recorded all of my time in this world, as you probz know that Minecraft can be very random at times so I didn't want to miss a thing!
I have chopped up all the footage to share my experience with you & I've also shared a few little tips on this origin type "Merling" that might help you along the way if you're considering trying this out.

I think I've beat this challenge, but I'm certainly up for another idea personally, I would like to try the one which involves honey as the main food source.

Your dragon egg was at world spawn. If you throw sth. through the portal it always ends up there.

I noticed that too, but when he put the bookshelf’s down they didn’t emit the particles to the enchant table like they usually do. So maybe that’s why he figured it doesn’t work under water?

@@juliab1680 But the enchantments were popping up with the correct enchantment levels. So I guess he just overlooked that.

U can enchant under water but the water source block acts as a object between the table and shelves so if u get rid of the water block it works

Your dragon egg is always at spawn point. Any thing you drop through end to overworld portal, it comes at spawn point.

The enchanting table looked like it did work underwater. There were no particles, true. But, the enchantments did pop up, and were the correct level. You had 3 bookshelves down. Each bookshelf gives you 2 enchanting levels. The highest level of enchanting from your enchanting table became 6 after you placed the shelves. So, yeah, it looked fine.

In Java, discounts only affect the villager you cured and only apply to the played who cured them.

Depth Strider is amazing for merlings and the sole reason why I love them over all the other Origins (well that and I like underwater builds). It STACKS with the merling water boost... Oh and Dolphin's Grace stacks with both so you can get to uncontrollably fast speeds way too easily in warm oceans!

Re shields. We finally got the banner on shield, but I only found out yesterday after messing around to see if it was available yet. I used a Piglin banner. I'm behind everyone since I take breaks. XD The snow water thing you find in deserts for Toycat was hilarious. I may steal the idea. Thanks for the vids as always. :D

It’s so weird the way that bows are different in the different editions. In Java Edition gravity makes the arrows fall down in midair, so the farther away something is the more you have to sort of aim above it. It’s funny for me to see Bedrock Edition players just aiming directly at the mob rather than above it.

Water prot is for the enderian origin. It reduces the time for them to take damage in water

Green is my fav color too! Those packs were totally amazing, you should try it again. I love these videos, and you are one of my favorite youtubers. All the different mobs and plants in the Nether and the End are so cool, I would love it if this was what the future of Minecraft looked like. You could have used trapdoor above the cauldron it'll put you in a swimming state so you won't have to run every time for the water.

To be honest, it would be awesome to see another 100 days with this world to be honest if you still have it and want to do it. As with my first world with the orgin mod, I was a merman origin regular survival mind you, and I died quickly as I spawned at a top of a mountian and had to jump down into a river. And its hard to keep track of time underwater due to the night vision. So I made a clock so I could keep track of time safely. And keep up the amazing work as it sounds like you are having with it so thats awesome. Anyways have fun good luck!

Entities that enter the end portal in the end dont have a bed, so they always tp to the world spawn point, thats why the egg was there

Nether biomes: Warped= blue biome with trees Crimson= Red biome with trees Basalt delta= one with basalt, and lava EVERYWHERE, Duh Not counting your current mods because i don’t know what they’re called either 😂 And, speaking of 100 day things, i think you should continue your 100 days series on a flat world, with nothing but……. A bonus chest. Nostalgia 😂

The only problem is that most computers aren't powerful enough to run that mod without slowing to a slideshow. It's very resource intensive.

If you put the observer alternating on each side (first one facing outward (the first sugarcane) then the next one on the other side but one block across repeating till the end) and having a block on the back of the piston(observer on top of the piston) with redstone on it will make the piston fire only once and not twice when the observer detects the sugarcane growing to that hight and when it is broken by the piston. This also works well with bamboo as well. You can also use waterlogged stairs with the sugarcane next to it, it's handy to have the waterlogged stair be upside-down so you can walk through you're crop with out falling in the rows of water

This reminds me of the "World Tree" challenge from back in the day where you grow a tree that is basically your soul. Then after it's grown you can only go 1 block off of a log so you spread out a massive root system from the world tree.

Dan my friend most of true fans don't mind long videos. Even if it's 2 hours video, me and my classmate all watch your videos completely. And if a person doesn't like long videos of games (especially minecraft the legend) they are not a true fan of the game. And don't love the game as much as true fans love.
