I had a three tooth permanent bridge installed. A few year later I was eating pumpkin pie and swallowed the bridge. I called my dentist who instructed me to go to the hospital. At the hospital an xray showed that the bridge had passed all of the areas of concern making it safe for me to go home. Needless to say I received lots of attention at the hospital as this was a first for many of the medical staff. The doctor said it should pass with no problem but to watch for it. Prior to leaving the hospital I was given gloves and qtips and goodbye, take care and happy digging. I was just happy that I was going to be okay. I have a copy of the xrays and someday might frame them.

I suggest before you sit down, you light a candle or two to minimize the aroma as you proceed

Hi good morning. I think I swallowed my crown a few months ago. The problem is the tip was sharp. There's no bleeding or difficulties in breathing. However, these past few days I felt that there was something in my throat. Is there any possibility that the crown was stuck in my throat? Your response will be much appreciated. Thank you.

I use a much simpler method which is less gross. I simply squat in the shower and defecate onto the shower floor, a little bit away from where the water is splashing onto the floor. Then I use my toe or sometimes my foot to search and move a bit at a time into the falling water to be washed down the drain. One of the best things about this method is that your face, especially your nose, is the maximal distance from your search. It also really helps with my method if the shower head is on a hose which makes it easier to clean the shower floor at the end along with my toes. I keep a spray air freshener in the shower which I spray often during my search for the benefit of my wife and daughter who may be home. Also, I wash myself with a heavily scented body wash when the search is complete. Before using this method, the first two searches I tried in the toilet by using a couple of long wooden skewers like chopsticks to search, but the water quickly becomes darkly clouded so you can't see what you are doing. I fear I may have flushed the crown away during those first two attempts because it's been five days and no luck. I'll keep searching for at least another week. Luckily, the crown came off a root canal tooth, so there's no pain.

This didn't tell me what I needed to know. My crown broke in half while I was eating pizza. I found half of it right away. I must have swallowed the rest. Is the sharpe edges on the broken half something I need to be concerned about? Just so other people will know if any are asking too. I have an appointment tomorrow morning. Since it didn't hurt, I finished two slices of pizza without the crunchy edge crust after I spit out what I had in my mouth, and searched for the rest of it in that. I just ate some bread because I thought maybe that might help protect my insides.
