I’m a magician and gonna say what needs to be said. KZfaq magicians who do tutorials have no respect for the art. You are literally giving away secrets to people who have no intentions of being a magician. All you care about is views because that’s the only way you can get them because u lack creativity. This is why magicians like criss angel thought outside the box and created magic of his own. Y’all are giving away secrets that aren’t yours to give away. If u really wanna inspire people. Create good magic without giving g away secrets. Y’all are lame wanna be magicians man. Their are people who make a living doing magic and yall are spitting in the face ofyour fellow practitioners doing dumb shit like this for views. Smh in 5 years this guy with not be doing magic. He’ll end up going back to school or some shit. I promise u

Hey man, I’m not sure if you actually took the time to watch this vlog or any of my videos but it’s tough to hear that my basic tutorials are really affecting you. I genuinely hope that you find happiness in life :)

Dude. If you think Criss Angel created his own tricks, you are by no means a magician. Let me tell you who IS a magician tho: Penn&Teller, Shin Lim, Mac King, Jay Sankey. All of whom reveal magic openly. If you’re so threatened by basic magic being revealed and actually think it affects your work; you really can’t be that great at magic at all. Of all the complaints I’ve ever heard from “magicians” about exposing magic it has NEVER been from the accomplished pros who are great at what they do. It’s always lame extremely amateur magicians. Leave Bao alone. He’s a legend; you’re a nobody. It’s extremely obvious in the way you speak about magic.

Hey derick are you really a magician?? Can you teach me ?? Bao has only been a working professional and creater of original deck designs as well as a valued member of the magic community for only like 10 years, pfftt as if right! I'm sure you have far more to bring to the table =) let me know

I tried to find some of your magic to see what the REAL magician was all about. Didn't find anything but hey, what did I expect from a wizard that looks up to Criss Angel. I hope to see you in the next 5 years, making a name for yourself with your witchcraft, or will you be just another username with no content to back up your claims?

I watched to the end, so here is your answer> I am an Engineer and thus have always wanted to solve puzzles and know the why behind things. To me, I often enjoy magic the most when I know how it works. A much as I would like to do the tricks, most of the time I do not have the patience or dexterity to learn the trick, but understanding the trick helps me appreciate the skill and creativity of the magician. Also, it can help me to learn how not to be tricked - when I don't want to be.

I couldn’t be more opposite! I revel in the mystery, but I think a good performer has something for everyone, so I always try to incorporate more puzzle-esque tricks into my performances for the inquisitive spectator to unravel, I find that too many magicians are overprotective and stingy about secrets, and no one enjoys that. the art of magic isn’t about knowing something that others don’t, it’s about sharing the wonder of life, exploring how we understand our world, and ultimately creating impossible experiences

I love every one of your videos. I’ve been an absolute extrovert in my life (with the exception of the last few years, maybe) I’ve been on stage, I’ve bared my soul in poetry, I’ve bled, sweated and teared from martial arts and dance…but magic I’ve never had the courage or confidence in skill to attempt. Because of you, I can AT LEAST roll a coin along my fingers! It’s a start, right? 😅🙏🏼♥️

I started learning magic because I've always loved watching magicians and wanted to know how it worked. Penn and Teller talk about the purpose of stage magic being not to fool people, but to inspire a sense of wonder. As adults, that feeling can be very hard to come by. I LOVE being able to do that for others. On top of that, magic is just cool! I have been picking up sleight of hand and cardistry tricks now and then for a couple years now, just for my own enjoyment, and it brings me joy learn a new skill. Plus, I'm ready if I want to do something unexpected to entertain a child, or as a stage actor, pull an unexpected skill out of my back pocket if it's called for. Basically, I learn magic for the love of the art and an appreciation of the artists who make it look easy. So thank you for helping me on that journey.

I like seeing the way that magic works way more than just seeing the magic. I was always a fan of Masked Magician's Tricks Revealed, and I love tutorials, reveals, whatever. For me, seeing magic is like watching a mystery movie : it's all good and well having the story, but it feels complete without the final reveal at the end. How did they fake the alibi? How did the avoid the security cameras? Why did they do it? And, ultimately, I'll always love rewatching someone doing magic even when I know how it was done. I mean, I won't stop watching and incredible gymnastics routine just because I know how it was done, or even because I can do it myself. If someone has good showmanship, it doesn't matter how many times I've seen a card vanish from their hands, I'll see it again.

Thanks for a great Vlog! To why I watch magic tutorials and your videos specifically: When I was a kid, I was excited by magic! I tried to learn, made my parents get me kits, and saw as many shows as I could. As I grew up, I was pushed away from magic by social pressure from friends, strangers, and some family. Now as I approach 40, I enjoy being able to not only see someone with the passion for magic I had until I hit high school; but your own passion for TEACHING the same magic! It's awesome it see! So, thank you! And, keep up the great videos!

My main reason for getting into learning magic more seriously is the same as you, with being so excited & inspired by the professional magician's I first came across on KZfaq. Always trying to learn as best I can in order to give people the pleasure & joy that you get from seeing something that's astonishing & seemingly impossible w/mainly Cardistry & card magic. I really appreciate & highly value your tutorials & tips you give on your channel. *Basically EVERYTHING you said* at the end of this vlog is the same way I think & feel with magic 😁🙏🃏💨✨✌️

Well, bao I have been seeing your youtube channel since the beginning in the last 2 weeks. Everything started when my 3 years old boy was on stage at one magic performance, He was so exciting, I had to do something. I bought a pack of cards and started learning some tricks. Then I found your channel and started to fall in love with this topic. Practicing nights the amazing the kid tomorrow with something new stuff :) The best, that during this practice I do not have to think about anything I can totally switch off my brian. I will follow you on this way and wish you all the best, and as a teacher of history, and meditation, I have to say you are a GREAT teacher man, not just the style, but the method is simply perfect! Thank you for your work, and keep in touch!

Answering your question at the end: I started getting into sleight of hand card magic in 2019. I like to dabble in a bunch of different hobbies here and there, but this one ended up sticking. It's been 2 and a half years, and I think I've learned a lot. I've connected with local magicians (SAM 47). I've recorded a bunch of nerdy/geeky performance videos, vlogged about my creative process, created a couple of personal passion project card tricks, and even though that stopped, my study of magic is still going strong. As for the why? It's fun, challenging, and I like solving the puzzles of method. Thanks for the videos! Keep up the great content. Have a glorious day!

I totally agree with your view. After being fooled for years by P&T etc, I started about a month ago to learn some basics from people like you, Chris Ramsay, Alex Pandrea, Spidey, etc. just to fill up my lockdown, and I don't think you're giving away anything... you all just teach some basic tricks and skills to get people started, but not nearly enough to endanger the profession. And as much as I will never be [or aspire to be] a professional magician, my drive for the puzzle element of it all has just made me buy a copy of 'Expert at the Card Table'. So I would say that instead of killing the old style of magic, you're keeping it alive by making it relevant in a new age. Keep up the great work.

I am a magician & I tell people who are interested in magic to go to KZfaq, a lot. This could get them involved in the art (as you said it did you). Just because you are giving away a few commonly known secrets (common among magicians), doesn't mean you are destroying the art of magic. Obviously, knowing a few tricks doesn't make you a magician, performer, or entertainer. This is something that comes through experience dedication. Nice video.

I use a cheap deck(the only one I have). So I couldn't do most of the flourishes. I couldn't buy a good one because my parents doesn't encourage me learning magic. But I want to learn it. So can you please help me by giving some advice about the other sources than youtube. I was doing only some impromptu card magics. Not gonna lie, it would be good if magicians themselves taught stuff to those that asked of them, or went public with it by themselves, because there ARE people that actually do not care about the "magic" bit of a trick, but the HOW to do it as it usually requires skill(and maybe some gadgets/props/stuff).Not only it would be a way to make more people interested in magic, but also make sure that there will be future generations using these tricks instead of letting them be gone just because of that bs "code" of theirs. I mean...we're in 2021...c'mon.

There are still many effects that I’m not willing to share or it’s not my place to teach certain things in the first place. Magicians are not obliged to teach anything and you shouldn’t feel entitled to receive any explanation from them. However, if I teach a snap change or things that are fairly common knowledge in magic, I better not see magicians come at me with pitchforks.
@user-mp5po2pt8d

@@BaoMagic Don't know where this is coming from but I never said that they are obliged to teach, nor that I am entitled to an explanation of the tricks. Only that it would be good if magicians were willing to actually teach/show how tricks work for others to learn, instead of hiding behind an ancient code of "secrecy".

ok first off im not a hater. today, magic sucks. youtube magicians especially are some of the worst PERFORMERS. thats one aspect of magic that magicians today neglect, the PERFORMANCE. no one tries to sell the magic anymore. magicians like criss angel and david blaine are not the best magicians. but their damn good performers and really wanted to sell their act. they dont even like being called magicians. magicians today arent pushing the envelope creating the impossible , even with a the advancements in modern technology, and all the amazing gimmicks we have on the market today. i believe that magician are so caught up in trying to cater to the magic community( like chris ramasy, super cool guy by the way), that they have forgotten about trying to cater to the public who know nothing about magic, and honestly dont care about the method. they just want to be entertained. and will pay damn good money to watch it. can you imagine the amount of followers and success magicians who taught tutorial would get if they focused on being a performer, rather than doing tutorials?? but thats just my opinion
