The main issue with second hand laptops is the lack of support for genuine parts, particularly battery. You are most likely to face issues with battery life within 6 months of purchasing a refurbished laptop. With Apple, the problem is that the battery itself may cost more than the purchase price of the second hand laptop (assuming that the genuine battery is available in the first place).
