This was my life until being adopted at 6.. My blood parents were more about drugs, and stealing from people just to get there next fix.. Real mom Shook my baby sister to death, Thrown against walls, fed once a day, sat in dirty diapers for days... I suffer from Shaking Baby Syndrome, Reactive Attachment Disorder, Depression. Etc. BUT Life gets better. Having someone to talk to as you get older helps. For anyone in this situation just know, there are people there for you, someone will help you, reach out. GREAT Reaction Half&Jai

My sister was strung out on meth, her husband was a drug dealer/alcoholic. I once visited my sister, she was passed out on the couch from a bad trip. My nieces, 4, 3, watching TV and the 4 tr old had fixed her sister cereal. This song hits me every time. My sister is now 17 years sober. Adopted her children back, and is a great woman. What is a music reaction? It is a feeling you get from deep inside that comes to the surface after hearing a song that touches your soul. When the singer can bring a tear or smile to your face, then you know the writer and singer have done their job with the song. When it makes a lasting memory in you heart and mind, than it has created the perfect reaction because it done this on different levels on your being. To me, that is a reaction to a beautiful song .when you walk away with a smile on your face.

When I taught in MD near DC my first year of teaching I had a little boy (this was kindergarten) who saw his dad kill his mom.. this little boy will forever be in my heart. There were times he would be raging mad and then just collapse in my arms crying.. he got better over the year with therapy and I would like to think because of the loving and safe environment of the classroom as well,, but that boy had my heart and still does 15 years later.. I always wondered what happened to him, what is he doing now.. He was soo sweet and all his anger came from not being able to process what he saw,, I hope he got the love and care he needed with his other teachers as he grew.. he deserves the world and then some. That moment in his life changed him forever

It makes me so happy that you two are confused by this. I say this, because as amazing parents, you cannot comprehend neglecting a child. You are amazing parents, and your kids are loved every day. I wish that these cold scared, and lost babies could have parents like you. The world would be a much better place I promise. Thanks!

Letters From Home is another great song of his. It's about a soldier who is deployed and how he looks forward to letters from home. The last verse draws a year or two.

Wow, this was my 1st time hearing this song; Im not a country music person (barring Chris Stapleton!) so am not familiar with this artist either. But, this is like an anthem for not only kids in this country, but globally. I am 58YO, my dad was a raging alcoholic and my mama loved her sleeping pills. These 2 managed to bring 5 kids into this "union" and it has affected all of us tremendously, especially trying to find our way into adulthood and relationships. I chose to never have children for fear of repeating the cycle, a choice I now regret. But on the bright side, there are plenty of other folks' babies I can love on and find such joy in it!

My big sister and my dad died when we 4 and 6. Our mom was this way. Made us better parents...vowing to never put our children through that.

John Michael Montgomery is from same area I grew up in and yes there are a lot of children going thru this type of life. He is from Kentucky and poverty and drugs go hand in hand in Ky and other rural areas and the children do suffer. I've seen it first hand and it's very sad. His brother Eddie Montgomery also sings had band with Troy Gentry called "Montgomery and Gentry." They have some great songs although his band mate Troy Gentry died in a helicopter crash few yrs back sadly. I can very much relate to their music cause they write their songs and since we grew up in same general area I just really feel their music. RIP Troy Gentry gone too soon.

This song tears me up. My Sunday school teachers (husband & wife) were unable to have kids so they became a emergency shelter home when child services had to remove kids from bad situations. I remember once child services had to take a set of twins (less than 1 yr old). One baby went to jack & sue and the other had to stay in the hospital. The parents had a 13 yr old babysit, and when the babies wouldn't stop crying the teen burned thier hands and feet with a lighter. 😭
