You’re definitely not failing. You make art to please yourself, yes? Like you said, you can always cancel out. Whenever it’s enough, you’re done. I think creative people are not inherently able to accept constraints; they prefer freedom. I’ve watched creatives participate in challenges, specifically the five item challenge. They always overdo it, trying to use their five items in super-creative ways, bending, melting, shredding, flaking …. They get too far from their comfort zone, and then I could swear I hear teeth gnashing. The result is almost always overworked, unnatural. I’d much rather they tap out. It’s not failure. It’s admitting it stopped being fun. Your cards are wonderful; they looked perfect lined up on the wall. A magnificent art quilt! I love seeing your colors, motifs and style echoing thru the pieces. I especially love the greyhounds and the buxom ladies. Bliss!

I definitely don't think I'm actually failing! hehe! I'm happy plodding along at my own pace now. I tend to zoom into things and smash out a bunch of stuff then get board, rest, and then plod along. I used to get mad at myself for this - but it's who I am and how my brain does what it does! Thank you Mara!!!!!

@@SophieMcPike Yes! I’m 71, so I’m fully baked. I will learn new things, though I doubt I’ll learn new ways. I HATE timelines and deadlines, so I don’t have them anymore. Serious things will happen, I’m certain, and I will have to things I don’t want to do. That’s life! So in between very serious things, I choose to be happy. I’m happy this very minute. I love you, kiddo. You are a very wise youngster. 💜💜💜

Sophie don't be so hard on yourself, you can take as long as you want for the challenge because it's meant to be a fun sparkly activity for you to enjoy, I think they all look absolutely magical!

Loved seeing these - 70+ illustrations is definitely not failing!! A booklet or zine of these would be amazing. They do look amazing though on the wall - like a patchwork quilt

I have a pile of that paper, does yours smell awful, my dad got it in an auction, but I love working on it. Art isn’t meant to be a race its telling your story, and you have years ahead, I love your work, and your so lovely to watch, thank you xxx

hehe, no mine doesn't smell awful to me! Just like paper! Yeah :) It's absolutely not a race, I agree, the click bait-y title makes it seem like I'm upset but I'm really totally okay with not having finished the challenge in the 100 days, i'm just going at my own pace and i'm super happy with that!!! Does it have that funky cellar smell? I had the same problem with some used books and putting them into freezer did help. I wrapped them in linen cloth first, then put them into a plastic bag and then for about four days into the freezer. I let them thaw (unwrapped) at room temperature and the smell was gone.

They do look great all up on the wall, as you said like a wonderful colorful quilt!!! 🤩 Hah, I also attempted the 100 day challenge two years ago (wow time goes by fast?!) and I made about 70 something illustration in the series however I still go back to them for inspiration, and use them to start new ideas or extend some of them. I could definitely see a progress comparing day 1 to the last day so overall I call that a win 🙌

I am thinking about doing this challenge. I is that you paper was 22 X 30, what did your cut out papers end up being? 5X5 or 6xX6. Love your art style!

They aren't all perfectly the same size, I'm too lazy to measure perfectly hahaha, but they're approx 12 x 12 cm :)
