Interesting as always David. The Bulova factory and HQ used to be about 20 miles from where I live on Long Island New York. I don't know if they are still there or do any manufacturing in the US anymore. I believe the Bulova brand is owned by the Japanese company Citizen Watch Co. now. Stay wel. ATB Doug.

Just bought one in pristine condition for $380.00 USD last week. It has the original strap buckle with the tuning fork logo.

I was holding my breath that it wasn’t a knock off, lol. Everything about it wreaks sixties! The fact it is a woman’s watch, even cooler! Great taste and eye, David! Thank you for another great informative show.

It's not a woman's watch. I have a female Accutron (well 3) and they are TINY in comparison This is a relatively modern persons interpretation of the size diff between modern watches dinner plate sizes compared to the elegance of the 60s

I totally agree, those who wear “today’s” giant/oversized watches are only the fashion conscious or nearly blind people, someone who wears an Accutron Speceview is neither of those people, their a cut above, that’s my opinion anyway,,, @@peterhoare3219

Neither you or your expert mentioned that particular 214 is a Swiss made model, more valuable and desirable than the USA made 214’s, of which were produced in much greater numbers; polish the crystal and it will really be a nice watch,,,

What are your thoughts on a stainless steel asymmetrical from 1969. Dotted crystal???

I thought that one of the bezels othe omega watch fell off (omega was the official brand for NASA ) and the astronaut had to use his Accutron as a back up. The Bulova Accutron advertises various dates on the back of their lunar pilot series when they were on the moon. It could be they are telling porkies but that is what the back of their watch says.

Actually; Bulova provided the technology to the Government several years prior to Public Release... The Tuning Fork movement at that time was considered Top Secret Military technology as it was used in many air and space crafts... There is documentation as early as 1958 that the Bulova Tuning Fork technology was being used in Space Missions, Aircrafts, Weather Instruments, Military equipment and more... It is a HUGE MISCONCEPTION that Omega is somehow the "Official" when in fact Bulova since even World War I ALWAYS gave the US Military full support within the companies capability at any given time... By the time the NASA program was launched under JFK; Bulova long had (over 75-years) repour with the US Gov't and Bulova's Tuning Fork technology and other gauge and timing equipment were Contracted to/with Bulova, it NEVER was Omega... The only reason that the Omega was NASA approved at all is because at the time Bulova did not have a 3-compact Chronograph Model in their line up; but Bulova did in fact make a few Prototypes (the "back-up" watch used when Omega Crystal failed) and One of which is held in a Private Collection today and is One of a Handful of Watches worn by Astronauts that have gone to space and returned... The Bottom Line and Fact here is that the Bulova Accutron Tuning Fork Movement Technology was being used in Outerspace by NASA and was Officially Approved for use many years prior to the Moonwalk... Which makes the Bulova Accutron the First Watches in Space... Fun Fact: The actual Omega that was worn into Space, was actually stolen and never recovered... The ones you see on display on spacemen's spacesuits are period correct recreations of the Model worn to space; but the actual Omega "Moon" watch is long gone...

Not my personal style, this lady prefers auto-wind watches, but it's a really early battery watch. My guess is you paid right on the money. I see people asking a lot more, but the question is what are they actually getting.

It’s a good point. What people ask and what they get are two very different things! But, I’ve had a few bids already at Jonathan’s estimate, but still keeping for a while!
