Hi Steph and family. Just a quick note for your pond. I may have told you before but I've had ponds for over 50 years. I think a lot of your water loss is due to the amount of trees and bushes around the edge of ponds. A small tree can drink 20/40 gallons a day. A large tree up to 100/150 gallons a day. Besides drinking they also degrade the waterproof property of your banks by the roots. The roots of a tree spread out usually as far as the tree canopy spreads. They will weaken the banks and allow water to escape. If you were to remove a lot of the trees and bushes on edge of goat pond, it would keep more water in pond. Also if you buy some oxygenating plants for pond the water would be a lot clearer. You can buy them from Amazon etc. Pond plants for edges would also be good. It will make pond look more natural. The plants in pond release oxygen, plus they also absorb the muck from fish as fertilizer. The fish will also love plants as a place to lay eggs. The holes in wire on guinea pen was caused by opposum. Their shark teeth are known for it. I watch another channel that had same thing happen with their peacock pen. They caught two huge possums in trap. Place trap at edge of pen. Hope all this info may help you in some way. Much love and God bless 💞

That looks like no-climb horse fence. I started using that kind of fence and my full size Alpines have not been able to get out of it. It’s expensive, but worth every penny.

Hi Stephanie, It is amazing how much water you got. Thank God you didn't have tornado damage. The water will disappear in time and hopefully all goes back to normal. Sorry your guineas are getting picked off when they escape the pen. Hope you can catch the predator. Glad you found their exit point and fixed that hole in the fence. Kayson was a good helper. Hi Steph! I was watching What The Hales and they had the same problem with their aviary. He sat a trap and caught an opossum. When he inspected his netting he discovered the opossum had holes through the netting all around the bottom where they could go in and get eggs. Personally I would never use netting for that reason. Wire is always a better protection. That's just my opinion. Sure is soaked out there where you all are at. Hope the weather improves for you. Farm is looking good! I think you need to to bring in dirt, rock&/or drainage pipe to change the levels & redirect the drainage. It would be worth considering. Love you & the farm.❤❤❤

Hi Stephanie, chicken wire is designed to keep chickens in, predators will chew through it very easily. You need hard wire cloth on the guinea run to keep the predators out . Much love from across the pond xx

At our old ranch we flooded really bad. We got up to 3 foot of water, we also went through fires as well.

Be thankful you guys don't look like Ima Survivor Sanctuary or all of Morrow Hill. They we're flooded bad & a couple houses got flooded inside.

Y’all really need a drain pipe routing the overflow of the pond out back so it’s not coming over the front. It would help if y’all put wood chips around the high traffic areas and over the pond sides to help it from washing away and eroding. Y’all have plenty of trees that r cute down u could use. It looks like the sides of the pond need to be built up higher so maybe it won't flood so bad , or hirer someone that deals with flood areas and can help y'all with all the flooding.

Maybe if you guys do a trench to the creek, and fill trench with rocks/gravel or pipe this might help divert water away from animals. We are hoping you don't fall and get hurt. I watched someone dig a trench with their fork lift. He put forks together, then tilted forks into ground, and lifted.

Love watching your videos. For me, it works that I give my guineas feed only in the evening, so thay are coming inside the coop them self. So I don't have to hunt them all around the property 😅. Best regards from Sweden 🇸🇪

Hey Stephanie, I know your land has some water logged areas. I know it would be so much digging work but to make your property better you might think about running a run off pipe from your small pond to the little creek. Then buil up a little more around the front of the little pond so the water will have a less likly way to travel. Plus you can dam up that pipe at the road if the water gets to high on your property. MAYBE you can ask a local hair salon to save hair clippings for you...spreading the hair clippings around the brid pens might help keep predators away...

Need to make a dam where the water is running over to stop it from soaking the goat pen and others areas. It can’t be good for the goats to be in all of that water. More tractor work to be done.

Would it help the pond to have a designated overflow that you choose instead of letting the water go where it wants? Don’t know if I’m making myself clear, but I’ve seen ponds where farmers have put a spillway coming from their pond that directs the water away from certain areas and redirects the water where it’s less damaging. There has to be a way to keep all that water out of the goat pen.
