Yes you should listen to Tommy more (at least I would be happy if you did that 😉) ..perhaps go for some orignials from Majestica this time like "Above the sky" or the lyric video to "Rising tide" ..or in december the "A christmas Carol " album :) Tommy really had a lot of family and friends creepy carneval kind of fun in this (stellar version) . The little girls in this video is his nieces and the dark haried woman his little sister (moterh of the grils that was singing and the one dancing in the end. The girl in the intro is the daughter of Tommys elder sister. The guy with spinder and chains is his childhood friend that married his little sister. Chris Davidsson the bassist from Tommys band majestica was the guy with paint in his face. The guy in the TV is a newfound friend , a swedish reactor that met Tommy doing videos of Sabaton, Majestica and Tommys solostuff .. Love "this is Halloween" and there are a lot of really good versions out there ..Tommy adds another flavour to it and is my favourite for creepy high octande family party Halloween..Leo Marochiolli has a more "adult " version as well as Jared Dines ..they go hard!!! ...Broken peach is also good .. the version I''ve seen is problably not hte short one that people here has reffering to but a live perfomance ..still very enjoyable. Hell yes i love this version! Here in Sweden Halloween was "imported" maybe 20-25 years ago or smth so i don't really have a relation to it. Many feel it's just a commercial jippo that has nothing to do with our own traditions, but it quickly got popular among young people. I don't mind it, the idea of dressing up as smth scary seems kinda fun.

Tommy just seems to have so much fun with his song covers, and has not done a bad one yet. Hallowe'en is a major festival for me as it is the OLD turning of the year in the Celtic Pagan tradition, which I have been part of for over 30 years now (having spent about 10 years just learning a huge amount of information) I think my favourite film has to be The Crow, such a good morality story told in a very old way, it has a strong story that justifies the violence of the main character and very definately protrays the bad characters as evil or stupid, in one case both

It's really fun, isn't it? Two fantastic versions have come out this October - the other is Marwan Ayman's a cappella version "This is Halloween in 30 different styles", which does what it says on the tin. As for movies, I'm not really a horror fan except for comedy horror, so probably put me down for The Nightmare Before Christmas (appropriately enough), though the first two Addams Family movies are up there too. Boo!

(Before seeing your reaction to Tommys version) Ya know, Simone and her husband (Oliver, the keysplayer from Kamelot) did a home-version during the shutdown. Halloween may be my favorite... as a too-young-to-participate-kid of the late 60's. I TRIED so damn hard to have a fun time, but family turmoil made for a tough existence. Costumes were a luxury that my mother alone couldn't afford (dad going thru mental troubles, two older sisters living in Portland, a new nephew whose existence embarrassed my 50's-era parents... it goes on and on) When I went off to college my roommate was going to the local Museum Art School and Halloween became a time for all of us to show off sewing and imagination skills. My roomie ended up owning a biz in the puppet and costume world... kinda well known there. Anyway, Halloween was a blast. Songs like this bring back memories of being our craziest selves. That's a good group of memories. Even tho these songs didn't exist then, the attitude did, for us.

Halloween....now here comes a boring lecture on cultural differences: many people in Germany see this holiday in a very ambivalent way, because there is zero tradition for it here. Halloween was 'imported' to germany in 1991 because of the Gulf War in Iraq. We have a long standing Carnival tradition, but in that year because of the war carnival did not take place. Since the costume industry feared a big commercial impact, they started marketing Halloween as a surrogate holiday. And it has been raising in popularity since then. But many feel it has nothing to do with german traditions, it's an american thing, purely commercial and not worth celebrating. Personally I think it's a funny thing, and the kids love it. But if you travel to Germany during Halloween, don't expect too much. Most people don't celebrate it. /end of boring smartass lecture.
