I Thought It Was a Weasel! | Colorado Wildlife

Technically, it is a kind of weasel, but my buddy corrected me and let me know it's an ermine AKA a stoat. This guy hung out with us for a little while during our hunting trip, and he was very inquisitive! I just love seeing these critters, and this is only my second time seeing one of these. It's a short video, but I hope you enjoy it!

Yes that is definitely a Stoat! You can identify by the long tail and black tip. A weasel looks very much alike but with a shorter tail and all brown. I saw a few near my fishing spots, cute little guys!!

And as winter approaches the ermine will turn completely white except for the black tipped tail. Cool capturing him on video.

Love it. I actually had one (Wild) come into my home and watch TV with the kids and I. Had to extract him though due to concerns of harming my kids

That's pretty crazy! Closest I had to that happening was a prairie dog that climbed up a huge flight of stairs at the our old townhouse, and scared the living daylights out of me. I really didn't expect an animal to be out there when I came out the door🤣

First one I saw, I also saw a porcupine and a pine marten the same day. I was deer hunting and found every other animal in the wild that day🤣

Looks like a weasel, what is it? Our wildlife department says we have weasels here but I've never seen one, I think it would be cool to.

Technically in the weasel family, but it's specifically an ermine or a stoat. At least that's what my hunting buddy said. I've only seen 2 ever, so right place, right time kind of deal.
