It wasn't until the second lap that I noticed no one was passing him. If you've watched many 'Ring laps you'll know what a big deal that is. I agree with most of that but the engine part; this is still the LT2 so you do have lots of low-end torque and a redline @6600 and peak power at around 6500 so idk if it'll ever sound particularly ragged or on the edge. That and the long gearing makes it best at relatively low revs

@@ganeshgajavelli1487 I wasn't saying the engine wasn't working, I was saying it doesn't sound like it. There are plenty of engines that sound like they're about to explode when under load, this isn't one of them. It just easily goes about it's business making great power without whining about it.

I tracked and rally raced a Porsche. Some folks are confusing “racing” vs “open track”. Racing you don’t get out of the way and block. Open track etiquette and safety is to move over for faster traffic. I conservatively counted 3 times Misha had to let off. In the end Misha was demonstrating safety and maturity on the track keeping himself, passenger, and Golf safe for another day on the track.

Glad you enjoyed it, GM hit it out the park with this one. One thing, it's not an LS technically, it's called the LT2. Sure, it's a beefed up newer version of it :) Funny part how he said it doesn't breathe well up top, it's likely the cam. A cammed LS3 will put out LT2 rwhp, they are a limited due to the OHV geometry and powerband vs efficiency and testing emissions. If he does cam and a few other things it'll be much more responsive, I'd leave the intake alone though GM did a good design there, it's variable tuning already.

Zora Arkus-Duntov is very happy with the existence of the C8. It's the mid-engine Corvette that he always dreamed would exist. Also, the big problem with the C8's power is that it likes to pull timing. The cars will dyno close to the claimed 490hp, but because they can pull up to 15 degrees of timing it can really fall flat on its face when pushed on a track. That has been the big thing I've seen track guys trying to combat.

What you mean with "15 degrees of timing"?
@machtmonk

@@trashbandit2449 not impressive when a heavier, less powerful and 10 year older 2010 nissan gtr is faster and comparing times from 10 years ago is meaningless because of the difference in tires and the difference between the time of the ferrari 458 and the corvette c8 is that the Ferrari lap time was done by an average journalist and the Corvette c8 by a professional driver with factory effort, even a nearly 2 ton Mercedes is 10 seconds faster

LT1/LT2 oil pressure sensor is at the end of the oiling circuit. Pressure reads low because of that. The engine is a dry sump with several oil pump (savenging/main oil pump and secondary ones). Oil pressure is perfectly fine, this is a variable flow pump driven by a proportional solenoid, which allow change of volume. Less than 120C on a track is really good
