Day 6 of my 7-day self-supported bicycle tour of Central Ontario. Trent Severn Lock 40 to Lock 33.
The day started off with me doing away with my route and instead, following a recommendation of the lockmaster - it worked ... for a bit. I then joined the Kawartha Trans Canada Trail, aka the Great Trail, and rode it from Manilla to Lindsay, where I once again camped at a lock station on the Trent Severn Waterway, Lock 33 - Lindsay. This lock station is not ideal for camping - stay tuned to the next video to find out why.

Yay swings! I have a policy, when bike touring, that I stop at all swing sets and swing. Okay, I’ve skipped a few over the years, mostly when I feel like I’m way ‘behind schedule’. I often feel a bit silly, and childlike, when swinging, and that’s exactly why I do it.

Great video! Hope you liked the ice cream on the way. Could I make a suggestion? When you stop and make a selfie video, could you use your phone in landscape mode instead? It’s a little jarring going from landscape to portrait back to landscape. Just an idea. Safe travels and keep up the great videos!

Thanks for working through the series. No issues with constructive criticism, I appreciate it. I'll pay attention to not mixing the modes in future videos. Thank you for the suggestion!

Great video as always! I was glad to see that your long ride down Simcoe St was so worth it. It was also very cool for me seeing your tent pitched at Lock 33...only about 10 metres or so from where mine was pitched approximately 1 year earlier. Of course I'm curious to hear the rest of your remarks about why Lindsay was less than ideal for camping, and how it compared to mine.
@WheelsonaBike

You pitched your tent closer to the Lock sign, by the parking, right? I was considering that, but there were so many cars parked there when I was unpacking, that I opted for the next best (flat) spot, next to the lock.

When I set up my tent at the lindsay lock there was a fist fight just outside my tent among the fishermen on opening day.. Needless to say it wasn't greatest lock to sleep at. Wonderfuly series. Keep it up

Oh my gosh. It's amazing that you still stayed there afterwards. I also saw a lot ot fishermen while there. I guess they can get territorial.

Ontario has some really busy unsafe roads touring. It's hard to avoid them! When I have to cycle on them I call it, "road work." I then try to accept that every tour has a minimum amount of road work. I put on my bright reflective vest and try not to get run over. Great job getting to the rail trail!

That's funny - road work! I'll remember that when I need to lighten things up.

if the Ontario government would consider paving about a foot and a half of the curb side of some of the roads bike riders would have a safer ride

Beautuful! How much water are you hauling on your bike at any given time? are all the "reservoir" on the bottle cages or do u have some in the panniers? water is so heavy! lol

On this trip I only carried the two water bottles. One is 750ml, the other is 500ml.

The tent is great, but I have replaced it for one with two doors. The tent itself, however, was excellent when I used it.

@@tjeym8897 No, it may seem that way but the waterfront trail is very long. It's just that in some parts you'll have to ride alongside car traffic. Here's their website waterfronttrail.org/
