Messi and Ronaldo didn't have a bad injury record in their prime years. Haaland has been injury-prone with Dortmund so it makes sense for Pep to try to protect him as much as possible instead of chasing individual records at the risk of injury.

Well all goals count in a season and in Messi’s best season he scored 73 goals in a calender year (60 or so matches). Haaland has scored 42 in 36 matches and could’ve probably had close to 60 allready if he wasnt subbed off every time he scored more than twice. He has also been rested some games. In the game against Leipzig he said he subbed him off because he is young and needs to stay hungry. Thats BS! Haaland doesnt lose the hunger if he sets records, he gets even hungrier and he may have taken that one chance away from him. It has only happened twice before in history that a played has scored 5 goals in a Champ.league game, so its rarely. Whats to say Haaland will ever get that chance again? He doesnt get to play the easier Champ. League games cause then he is rested. As if its that easy to score 6 goals in a Cl game. He robbed him from that record and the only reason is that he wants to protect Messi and his records. Thats why he sub him off in games when he can score more too. He doesnt want him to take any of Messi’s records. He can try to joke all he can and some people get fooled, but its definately a lot of truth in those «jokes».

The sad thing is, its not a joke. He doesnt want Haaland to break Messi’s records. He is pretending its a joke, but its clearly true, why else would he constantly sub him off when he plays great and score several goals. One thing is to sub him off if he hasnt had a good game. Messi, Ronaldo etc never got subbed off when they were in the zone, and they played every game.

Haaland is 6'5 and Messi is 5'6 because of Haaland's size he's more injury prone he's already had a lot of injuries since joining City, Messi being smaller makes him less injury prone it's strategy on Peps part he doesn't want Haaland to burn himself out too early and risk him getting injured by the time they have to play more important matches he wants to reserve Haaland's energy for the more important games so City can win the championships Messi is short he can score hattricks all day everyday without getting injured not the same for Haaland

That's insulting to Peps legacy who's coached so legendary clubs to championships Messi is half the size of Haaland he's short which makes him less prone to injury so Messi can score hattricks all day everyday without risking injury because of Haaland's size he's more prone to injury Pep is aware of this and instead of risking him burning out too early wants to reserve Haaland's energy for the more important matches needed to win the CL it's not more complicated than that 😊
