Have you tried taking kratom and/or kava kava already? :) especially kratom ive been fascinated with for long time, take it daily too, it can work in different ways. it's addictive tho, and technically an opiate, but still it's a medicin imo & it doesn't have strong side effects like opioid pills. If you do best try a good red strain. Do'nt take on empty stomach so you won't get nauseus :) might heal adhd too, i think it's something that can work for so many different aches or disorders etc..

I've had GA and panic disorder for about two years and I was getting ready to try meds. I started taking vitamin D3, 5-HTP, and 200mg L-Theanine in the mornings. I also take another 200mg in the afternoon. I'm certain the L-Theanine is the one having the most positive effect. My panic disorder and anxiety have completely disappeared in the first week. No kidding...this stuff has given me my life back.

So you can take is “as needed”? That’s awesome. My brother has serious health problems and has developed panic attacks that started during the C-19 quarantine. They got so bad that I had to move him 1,400 miles to live with my husband and me. Because he suffers from morbid obesity (we are working on it) he has developed pulmonary edema and gets shortness of breath, which immediately triggers a panic response. Just yesterday he almost allowed himself to slip into a panic attack. We were able to talk him out of it, but I think I’m going to verify that this won’t cause any issues with his 16 prescriptions 👀 he deserves to feel more in control and calm, as he’s doing a lot of correct things to improve his health.

@@valerief1231 We in southern Oregon have had a mild spring with a wet (relatively) early summer. this has led to super high levels of pollen. It has made breathing very difficult and even though mullein leaf and nose drops allow me to breath finally I still have big problems going to sleep because of panic attacks from the feeling of suffocation when I tried to sleep earlier. Chamomile + valerian tea has helped a lot in my case.

My wife takes ~500mg a day. She's been an anxious person her entire life. A few weeks of taking it and she still gets stressed, but the anxiety is gone. About 3 months into taking it everyday, she questioned how beneficial it was and stop taking it for a week and a half. Said it was the worst week she'd had since she started taking it, and immediately started taking again.

The first few days I took L-Theanine, I didn’t notice anything. I increased the dosage (600mg), and it was like a light bulb had been turned on. I was super productive, and got lots of stuff done; and I ended up taking a nap later in the afternoon. Those are my typical results whenever I take that much.

I was a teacher at an alternative highschool several years ago . One of my students had some fairly serious mental health issues, and behaved rather erratically sometimes. After summer break, they came back to school, RADICALLY more grounded and calm. I asked them what they were doing differently, and they said with a look of triumph "'300mg of L Theanine, 3x a day" They are all grown up now, and last time I saw them , they were living an excellent highly functional life as a professional performer with a musical theater/comedy troupe.

Like the metal watering pitcher for my garden, which had a handle with a missing rivet...I let it go for 6 months, then suddenly figured I could use a nut and bolt to hold the handle on instead.

Keep in mind everyone, taking any supplements is exactly that, a supplement. It’s a piece of the puzzle. We all have to exercise, eat healthy, and have good bedtime routines. And as someone who struggles with sleep I know it’s not easy, but these few things supplemented with things such as L-Theanine can make a big difference in combination. Keep going!

I had nerve gas exposure in the Army, which caused brain damage, motor neuron damage and had/have major sleep disorder (the most extreme). Earlier years i only slept 5 hours per week for 8 years.. Severe anxiety and was complete wreck from sleep deprivation. I still have a problem getting to sleep but much improved. Big problem most, but not like those earlier years! Well, from stress and trauma I went back to the severe, for months barely sleeping. Ready to loose my mind. I know herbs , tried so much, including theanine (helped little with severe anxiety) but couldn't sleep. Did research and had many herbs here was so exhausted never got to using. Passion Flower is amazing for anxiety and insomnia. Holy cow. Sedative no side effects anti-anxiety and comparable to major sedatives and benzos in scientific studies. In a few weeks my anxiety has been greatly improved. Still staying up for days, but when i sleep, it is deep and long. I was really severe, now realy bad for sleep, so much better anxiety. I also take the l-theanine and lithium 5-10 mg. State i was in, i prob would have been given a hypodermic shot of something really strong. So glad i didn't have to resort to prescribed drugs which i've rarely used since trying them in early years. Try passion flower, passiflora pubmed will show you the summary studies. Really impressive. Prescribed in Europe. They also did studies to use passiflower to taper off benzos. People get addicted to and build tolerance requiring more and more of those drugs. Changes the brain. Very toxic to the body. Study showed normalized brain activity and sleep parameters At the rate I'm improving, i figure a few more weeks before I'm sleeping close to normal. I'll never be "normal" with the brain damage incurred, but manageable with herbs and supplements. This passion flower is amazing. I buy the powder on Amazon. I take 5-7 grams. It's a heavy dose and my does it help me sleep and recover.

I'm skeptical by nature. I was having extreme anxiety for some time, intrusive thoughts, ocd, and a lot of other problems. A friend of mine had some L-Theanine and he gave me 9 pills. I started taking them for no reason at all, i honestly didn't think it would work. First 4 days, no difference. Day 5 onwards i literally forgot completely about my anxiety. Still have some intrusive thoughts, but like, les than 20% of what i have before. Now my 9 pills are over and i'm searching if this is REALLY that good or if it was just placebo. As i didn't thought it would work, i'm pretty sure it was not placebo.

If you find yourself having nightmares taking L-Theanine you may want to try to take it first thing in the morning. I found this decreased the chances of getting nightmares. In all fairness, I think it's because L-Theanine makes you dream more and my anxiety during the day was feeding my subconscious and producing nightmares at night. My understanding is that this only happens to a small percentage of people taking L-Theanine.

Remember that Serotonin levels and production is increased, Dopamine levels and production will be decreased, and visa-versa. They both compete for the same rate-limiting enzyme in the conversion of 5-htp > Serotonin, and l-Dopa > Dopamine. When one pathway is using it or theres a higher demand on that pathway, then the other pathway has less availability of the enzyme. You could get around this with DA or SE Releasing Agents, DA or SE Transporter Reuptake Inhibitors or MAO-B & MAO-A Inhibitors, of either one or the other, whist your choosing to increase the opposite ones pathway and production. Then swap around for a cycle. Theoretically it would keep SE and DA levels high. At least something along these lines anyways..

I will continue taking, as there seems to be plenty of evidence to support that it does work. I'm not sure why it works immediately on some people, but your video gives me some hope that it does work differently on different individuals. My one question to you as a doctor is can this be mixed with benzodiazepines such as Xanax? I know some other herbs for anxiety like Ashwaganda are not supposed to be mixed, but not sure about L-theanine. I'm guessing that this particular herb is not strong enough for extreme panic attacks, but may be decent enough for everyday stress. My primary goal short-term goal is for some upcoming travel international, and I get extreme (panic attack extreme anxiety) over travel. Pretty severe claustrophobia, muscle spasms, upset stomach, lightheaded, high blood pressure, gastric distress, etc. Being cooped up on a 26 hour flight is about as extreme as it gets for me, yet I still want to go. I'll do my best to use natural herbs for as long as I can, but also realize that it may be necessary for me to go to the prescription benzos if I'm not successful, so just wanted to inquire about mixing.

In general l-theanine does not tend to have interactions with drugs but it is important to always double check with your doctor first.

Stay away from benzos. I was taking the highest dose and I had panick attacks after some time not taking that drugs. I reduced them and I eventually cut them. My anxieties are gone. I feel WAY better now. Stay away from benzos.

L-theanine is not a herb*. Not sure if it's extracted from one though. If that's what your saying my bad.*

I have similar feelings during airplane traveling. It’s so very difficult for me, even a relatively short flight like 3 hours is challenging, especially if there is any turbulence. Did you find what is the best help for you for this situation? Thanks in advance.

I take the Solaray brand (also 200mg) but once a day. Not sure if that one also takes a few days to work. Online (I shouldnt be researching I know...) it says 30-45 min to work but I don't believe that. I been having MASSIVE driving anxiety especially alone and cant even go past my own development and its annoying me so bad! Hoping this is a better way than Lexapro (i have it but havent taken it yet) and Paxil (never again lol)

Would you reccomend taking l-theanine with 5-htp for anxiety?

I do sometimes recommend both because both can be helpful with anxiety but always best to double check with your doctor to make sure that combo does not interact with anything else you are taking.
