I remember when the new Bronco came out they were nearly bullet proof on the trails UNTIL people started putting larger tires on them and then the tie rods would bend or the CV's would break but primarily the tie rods. People came up with tie rod stiffeners real quick and that solved the problem and then Ford addressed it a couple of years later. But as long as you left it stock which was more than capable enough for almost all owners, nothing broke. The Frontier is generally the same way. Anything stock to 33" and you will almost never have any issues. When you start making accommodations simply to fit much larger tires and not to address performance as a whole you will discover the failure point of stock components real quick. Drop bracket lifts were primarily designed to fit larger tires while somewhat maintaining reasonable diff alignment. But when you use a drop bracket the only ground clearance increase you get under an IFS is from the increased tire diameter just like happens under a solid axle so typically you would have more ground clearance with 33"s and no drop bracket under the front diff of an IFS vehicle than with a drop bracket and 35"s. And, as you discovered, you didn't need 4 wheel drive anyway to get where you were going. Except for truly hard core wheeling most decent stock trucks especially those with a rear locker will get you anywhere you will ever really go. After all, forest service service workers, line workers and fire service workers traverse almost every forest service, utility line and fire service road with stock Ford, Chevy and Ram trucks with little to no modifications. Playing requires mods and will eventually break something on every brand. Just going out and getting to a camp site, a hunting or fishing spot or exploring so called OHV roads needs only decent tires and practice.

@leveluplife8585
@leveluplife8585 Ай бұрын
@@4wdAdventurz That’s what I’m saying. You shouldn’t run a spring rate that puts you at full drop unless you only intend to do water crossings. You lose articulation and are forcing the traction control to engage for most obstacles which will make it very jerky and unsmooth while your ifs is already in its weakest range of motion. It’s also jarring to your strut mounts when you hit full drop over speed bumps and stuff like that I bet and they can deform over time or worst case bust free

Ouch - sorry this happened. Your stem lift probably places your axles at a sharper angle then a Titan Swap would. This would explain how the the CV joint failed. However, the splines on the Q60 1/2 shafts have also been known to fail on Titan swaps. Though the right length, that luxury SUV wasn't ever intended to carry the weight of 35's. The 1/2 shafts on a Titan have a flange and bolts rather then splines, but require a Titan diff swap. All of this explained why so many wheel on 32's and 33's. Your videos seldom depict a rocky surface and dirt and mud is far more forgiving. Perhaps you should try a standard Titan swap - a lot of people do succeed with splines on that lift. Going to a Titan Diff latter, you're only out the cost of two 1/2 shafts for trying.

@@4wdAdventurzI hear you but there’s still more to it. Drop brackets arguably keep your CV angles stock. Titan swaps extend them and push them into steeper angles. I think the chance is slim to none that a Titan swap will fix your issue. What kills CVs is the angle, the rotational mass on the other end (tire size and weight) and the driving conditions. If you are spinning your tires and they suddenly grab traction, the CV is what takes that shock. All that to say, you need stronger CVs or lighter/smaller wheel/tire combo. Also, remanned CVs are always significantly weaker than OEM, so keep that in mind.
