All three did well, Kale was amazing, acting as if he was still at home the whole time. The Ackie got out of her container in the waiting room and everyone was referring to her as Houdini the whole time, oh yeah, turns out she's a girl - new name coming.
They were all well behaved during their physical exams. Need to wait until Monday for the fecal and blood results. Everyone there was cooing at them and surprised with how chill they were about being there.
Both Ajax and Kale have been to vet previously when I first got them, this was a new vet and the first time for the Ackie. I was trying to wait until Ajax and Kale were 2 yrs old, but I was getting tired of not knowing the Ackies sex.

Awwww. Amazing that even in an environment that freaks EVERY animal out, your guys (and gal) were okay. Love the way they move, so carefully, and their huge supple hands. Kale looked so happy to be home, lying down to recover as anyone would after a stressful day. It’s proof of what kindness and care will do. They aren’t just “lizards” to you, and it shows.

You don’t own them you have a relationship with them. 🥰

Grats on the smooth intro to public places and new people. I know the anxiety you must have felt until you saw their positive interactions in the new surroundings. The positive response from the folks at the vet must have put you on cloud nine.

yeah... I knew they were cool at home with family and stuff. But yeah outside was always a wild card, especially when they feel that real sunlight. First time I took them outside in a carrier when they were young, it's like a second light switch went on in their head. But all 3 were super chill on this trip. Ajax and Kale had been to another vet when I first got them over a year and a half ago, but that was before any type of interaction had taken place so they were absolutely terrified and had the 1000 yard stare the whole time.

Great video ! Haha I knew “little boy” was a little girl ! 🤣🦎🙋🏼‍♀️ & i’m glad you had a good experience at the vet with the monitor trio ! Sounds like all 3 were well behaved ! It’s funny cause I had the same exact experience when I took Georgia to the vet. They were kind of leery just because it’s a monitor….but when they saw how social and tame and friendly Georgia was, they were blown away. They were like, omg this lizard is incredible…he’s amazing ect ect lol…. kind of like the same reactions it looks like you got as well. & Anytime the vet or vet techs had to handle him… he just wanted to climb on them & check them out & be friends haha ! & even when they had to put a towel over him and kind of hold him down for a few minutes while he was getting the end of his tail cut 😣🤦🏼‍♀️ He never freaked out at all. Anyhow lol…it just shows that all of our hard work that goes into training these critters really pays off when we have to take them out of their “safe zone”

Thanks! It feels weird uploading to instagram...I've never used social media before. I keep forgetting to post there or just never know what to upload there.

@@TreeMonitorTraining Yeah it’s definitely daunting!!! But I started growing a little bit of an audience by using a lot of different hashtags and i’d just post feeding clips/interaction clips. Once I get back into reptile stuff i’ll be posting regularly again there though

I think you said Ajax was wild caught. He would have bad memories of being held, which could explain his distress.

Kale's the wild caught one, Ajax is CBB. Kale's just a lot more confident than Ajax. Full spiral is a defensive display, Ajax didn't understand what was going on and was just way more stressed. When we went over the blood tests later that week, they even pointed out some elevated marker in both that can be affected by stress due to the forced handling during the visit and the taking of the blood. This marker was a lot higher in Ajax test results while Kale's was just at the higher end of a normal reading. Keep in mind, I had to force handle Kale some when I first got him due to treating him for parasites, which required me to get a syringe into his mouth while holding him steady so I could force medicine down his throat. I later came up with an easier way to do it, but those first couple times required like 20-30m of nonstop forced handling until he gave up struggling and allowed me to get the syringe in. Ajax has no experiences anywhere near what was happening to him at the vet that day. So, he was just frightened. But he was fine the very next day.
