3:18 Honestly he’s right. When I first was trying to dunk it was literally all in my head. Every time I’d jump up I’d be smacking the ball against the rim coming up just short until I told myself mentally that I could do it. It’s really a mind game and surprisingly more mental than physical. Obviously if you can’t physically get there at all no amount of mental strength will make you fly up and dunk but you know what I mean.

i am about 6'4 and I could dunk from 8 feet away when I was a teenager. thousands and thousands of attempts before I was able to do it at around 15 years old. then thousands and thousands of dunks. but at 35 I had a triple fusion back surgery that lasted 10 hours. I live in chronic pain every day and will never have children. I am being a bit dramatic here but the moral of my story is that dunking is overrated. be careful with your body. if you strive for excellence then do it gradually. I think my spine gave way in the end because I was the weekend warrior type. I was the teacher that could dunk. I tell all my friends to be careful, but they almost never listen. it's a lesson we have to find out the hard way.
