Life Update: I transferred law schools! I will be attending Harvard Law School in the fall :)
Hi Everyone!

I dont think they really do, even though it's part of the application, if that helps! They mostly care about your 1L grades, there are people in my transfer class who had very low LSAT scores

(the summer after your first year is over). (2) do they expect transfers to have additional activities from 1L year added to their resumes? (3) besides 1L grades, are there any other aspects you think adcoms looked at to see an improvements / differences in your application from applying the first time and applying to transfer? Thank you! You can only apply to transfer the summer after 1L year! And I honestly don’t know what they expect haha, i didn’t really research this process as much, I just submitted an app! All i knew was 1L grades mattered a lot! I had extracurriculars too though

Did you have to use new recommenders from law school? Or were you able to use your existing recommenders from undergrad? If the former is true, how did you navigate asking law professors for recommendations after only one year of class?

When transferring, i noticed that u need to submit ur Lsat score. Does the lsat score play a crucial role in your transfer application or are your 1L grades more weighed?

Hi, Caroline. It is such a great achievement for you to transfer to the best law school by standing out among such a competitive environment! But I want to know if it is convenient to ask for some advice from you as HLS is also my dream school🥺 : I want to know how important a role does the rankings of undergraduate school plays in the admission process ( I am a senior student and get a fine GPA in high school+ 1510 SAT + 9 AP 5s. But as there are three of my siblings attending college at the same time, so I can only go to a SUNY school with full ride). I know that the admission office would absolutely value the GPA differently ( no offense, but a GPA of 4.0 in SUNY and Caltech are absolutely different). If you think that it is vital,then I will absolutely transfer to a Top school before my junior year.🥺

It's not vital to transfer. Just get the highest GPA & lsat score possible. Good luck!

Congratulations! What was the process of asking one of your professors for a letter like? How did you select which prof and was it awkward 😬?

I think the best profs to have as mentors/connections are those who care about your success, whatever that looks like. And I'm luck that I had two profs like that! They wanted me to do well, and if I thought applying to transfer was how that would look like, they were very supportive of it! But it def can be awkward, I really just emailed mine lol. I did ask one prof who had a more negative reaction, so I just chose not to pursue that anymore.
