Liz, my grandparents had salt & pepper shakers like those...they're meant to be used while you're grilling, so that you don't have to hold your hands over the hot grill while you season your meats.

The “candle stands” that you were looking at are brass alter candle holders. If they were polished they would be beautiful. The trays below are to catch dripping wax as the candles are very big. I have two of them and love them. I wanted to jump through my iPad and get them. Go back and buy them, polish them, you will love them in your living room.

I just literally stumbled on your blog, and I love it! The little square cabinet you found in savers? With a glass front and I believe it had two shelves in it. Would have been absolutely perfect. I just remarried - my husband is 12 years younger than myself, but the important thing is that I am 73 and I have an 18-year-old stepdaughter! Her mom passed away seven years ago from cancer, and we found her old college hoodie which was in pretty bad shape I folded it the best I could and put it in a deep shadowbox. But I think something like that box that you found would have worked perfectly if I could’ve taken those two shelves out. I’m going to keep my eyes open from now on for something different. Keep up the good work. My husband and his first wife bought a wonderful old house. It is now over 100 years old. The only thing I don’t like about it is that it’s two story. But it’s so full of possibilities.

I love that bench that you want to use for your girls piano, I am a piano teacher and would absolutely love it myself. I don't have an upright piano in my small apartment but I do have a keyboard that I would definitely use that for, very cute. But I actually like the fabric that's on it, might embellish it a little. I also like things that are very unique and different!!
