I TRANSFORMED this ABANDONED house and the NEIGHBORS thought I was CRAZY

This house makes the neighborhood look horrible. It's the 2nd house right when you drive in and the yard hadn't been mowed in quite some time. I knocked on the door hoping someone would answer, but after speaking with the neighbor, I found out that it was abandoned. I pulled out all the stops trying to contact the owner with no luck. After about 2 weeks, I decided to take it into my own hands...

@@Robdutton91 yes I agree Rob. I may have worded it wrong. I guess most of my experience with hard workers comes from my daughter's (25) generation. She is a very hard worker but when I see most of her friends and classmate's doing the same thing they did in high school its kind of hard to look at the whole picture. They are either doing drugs or still riding their bicycles around town. By this time in their life they should have at least 8 years of work or training or going to college. I just wonder how they are gonna ever going to move forward. Some of them still live with mom and dad and don't have to work. I do still have faith for the generations to come but it's wearing pretty thin. JS

Hey Spencer: thank you for your kindness & generosity. Not only did you make the property look better, you also minimized the likelihhood of vermin infestation. Years ago I moved in with my sister in Dallas, TX in a house situated next to an untended corner lot. Before I got there my sister had recurring problems with intruders & ENORMOUS rats getting into the house. The grass & weeds had grown to 5+ feet high, which provided cover for both types of pests. I bought a used lawn mower & started keeping the lot mowed which eliminated the problems. Again, thank you for your loving service. You did MUCH more than just make the property look pretty; you literally made the neighborhood safer.

Many didn't want us in their homes cause of fear of getting sick or the caregiver not being vaccinated. Just to be able to get into the home we had to get vaccinated and show our vaccination card.

This reminds me of an experience I had in the late 1980’s. We bought a house in a new subdivision and there were a few lots left vacant. Most of the neighbors took decent care of their yards but the sidewalk was ignored and started growing monster weeds. I went around the whole subdivision (60 houses) spraying Roundup on the weeds in the sidewalk, and a couple of days later I went out and pulled or dug them all out. Even the vacant lots looked better! The neighbors all thought I was nuts but eventually I noticed that several sections of sidewalk were now being kept up by someone other than me. So even though some people didn’t like what I was doing, others were inspired by it. That was a big win!

We need to take care of those as neighbors, elders and those struggling. As you are cleaning, the yard had areas that were not safe for an elder, as the walkway section with growth on it and bushes shoving over the walk. We had a house like this in our neighborhood, in 06 and 07. The guy was a drunk and let it foreclosure. Neighbors all took turns and did same as you are. Thank you Sir, for giving a fig! Job well done! 🧡🌿🌺

I know, I was watching and waiting to see him rake up and bag all that mown grass lol. Would have made a great difference. At least in the front yard would have been nice to do it, the wind can blow it back into the road again.

I was thinking a shop vac maybe? And then just dump it into a bin. There must be a reason he didn't do that

@@guen4413 My guess is because he was doing it for free lol. I would have done the same thing he did. The work that he did in just edging, will save a lot of time for the next person that mows it.

I agree. With the grass cut so very short, and so much mown grass left sitting atop in a mat, won't the grass beneath completely die now?

Why don’t landscapers bag the grass anymore? I’ve noticed them cutting lawns like this before.

I have come across your videos recently and now actually look for you what you do is so lovely on every level. There was a time when neighbors would see someone struggling and step into help. Now I'm sure these neighbors are very pleased to see that it is done let's pray your kindness will show them that perhaps if they just take turns keeping up the property it will help everyone's property value in return and also hey helping that homeowner whoever they are what a blessing you are and I hope more and more people pay attention and do the same God bless you thank you for what you do
