Hi Manuel, many years ago, I visited the Vatican. I attended a mass in the space just behind the Baldacchino. Also, I walked up the winding staircase, up the cupola to the rooftop viewing area on the peak of the cupola, overlooking the Vatican Gardens below. Then we walked around on the roof of the church to view the gargantuan statues lining the colonnade. I also remember a small shop located on the roof as well.

Bravo, Manuel! Grazie mille! Fortunate to have lived in Italy and immersed myself in the culture. Been to Rome twice, the second time I got a personal tour from my girl's uncle, a Roman. During the next few days of our trip, I felt physically overwhelmed from all the history that surrounded me. That was early 90s and to this day any time I share my experience in Rome with anyone I get covered in goose bumps. Two words that best describes Italy, passionate and beautiful.

Thank you for an excellent translation. I have had discussions with some of our Protestant brothers and sisters who claim Catholicism is rooted in paganism, siting the obelisk . I wish I knew the translation at that time to explain the significance of its representation of Christianity’s victory over paganism.

These translations all appear to mark a stamp onto the structures; like we own these now! My guess is these structures were much older but claimed by the Catholics around the 1500s. These translations are invaluable, thank you for doing this 😊

It was a treat to hear you read the texts. A feast to follow the words in those beautiful roman capitals. A joy to try to interpret them before you gave the translation. Thank you so much. Oh, and your question about other translations... you might find some texts that are unexpected, with a double meaning or a twist. I guess both Romans and renaissance architects liked to hide clues, just like brilliant composers like Bach did in their compositions. It might be a way to say something about a building and its builder through those clues.

the inscription at the dome of St. Peter's for me is one of the most important verse in the catholic faith as a whole because this symbolizes how special Peter is and his role in Christianity and its enduring legacy will continue to all eternity just as intended by Christ himself.

The Church was in Rome long before Constantine converted, and was not founded by the Roman emperors, many of which persecuted the Church.

One small criticism the Catholic Church wasn't founded by the Romans. It was founded by Jesus Christ. I believe one of your translations about Peter made that point. The Church was often persecuted by the Romans but was finally allowed to exist in peace.

The Catholic Church teaches that it is the one, holy, catholic and apostolic church founded by Jesus Christ in his Great Commission, that its bishops are the successors of Christ's apostles, and that the pope is the successor to Saint Peter, upon whom primacy was conferred by Jesus Christ.
