I tried bowling a perfect game in 1 week. 7 days.
I was almost a complete beginner to bowling, yet with obsession and effort and practice, I tried bowling a perfect game. 300 points. 12 strikes in a row. I was also bowling with one hand and no thumb, which made it a bit tough with my bowling form.
To be honest, the main stressor throughout this week was the fact that if I didn't have a cool result to show for the week, this video itself wouldn't have made for a good story or an interesting video, which means the week truly would've felt "wasted."
Watch me document my process of making this video on my TikTok:

A lot of bowlers need to hear this. You made insane progress for a week of practice. It took me about 6 years to bowl my first 300, and another year for my 2nd one. I bowl Dougie's tournaments and at Lodi too. I hope you stick around the bowling community, and if you ever need any advice I'd love to help. Great video!

Shoutouts to Brad and Kyle. Their videos are awesome for learning. I wish I could go for a week straight trying to get a 300. That's some real determination and I'm glad you enjoyed it despite the injuries. Bowling is mechanically intricate, especially in how your body moves, so it's no surprise that injuries can unexpectedly show up.

As a bowler myself I am very amazed how you picked up bowling this quick. You actually tried to learn the technic behind it and not just bowl with pure luck. Gotta say that I am impressed and have the upmost respect for you. I bowled my first 300 after bowling for 15 years ( since I was 6) so it is really tough. Great game at the end though! Keeping it clean is very difficult

Bowling is hard xD lots to learn especially the form. Strikes, spares, simple lane play, oil patterns, bowling ball tech all come later. Form is the most important since its how you deliver the ball first. Awesome video!

This video was great. I was disappointed after watching it when I found out it was the only video. The comments make it sound like you want to be a bowler but what I saw was someone wanting to make an entertaining video, which it was. I hope you keep making others. Oh and the way the video ended was gold. The odds that you were there to catch that moment LOL Great video :)

Bro, I bowled for about 10 years in leagues, never got a perfect game, and I carried a scratch average in leagues. One game I strung 9 in a row. Got up in the 10th and let it fly, absolutely hammered the pocket, 3 pin did a perfect wrap around the 10 pin. Probably the best shot I made all game, except for the pin action. I picked up the spare and then struck the final shot for a 279. And that was that. My knees gave out not long after that and I had to give up bowling. Couldn’t plant my feet. For you to work up to a completely clean game in a week, that’s impressive. Well done! The problem isn’t your game and your bowling. The problem is only you setting unrealistic goals on yourself. Be proud. You did good.

I think it be best to go to a pro shop and purchase a ball and have him drill it to your fit. I was having a similar problem with my finger and the problem was the grips weren’t right and so I was trying to bend my finger in a spot that doesn’t bend. Plus most pro shop guys will be able to give you some tips and tricks that will help you a lot!

I've been bowling for 16 years and competitively for about 6 years. Just some pointers... nearly everyone who bowls experiences pain where you felt it; all of our fingers get swollen and bleed from tearing the skin, many people tape their wrist for more support and to ease pain, and many experience leg pain. You experienced it so much because your body is not used to the sport and you bowled so many games (For practice I usually never go beyond 6). Also, if you really want to go for a 300 I'd suggest getting a ball drilled for your hand. I'm willing to bet the ball you were using had the wrong grip sizes for you, plus it's good to get to understand how one ball rolls. It was also a great idea to watch the videos and realize the form and technique aspects because they are crucial and they are very difficult to understand in just a week. Lastly, always remember when you bowl there is a pattern on the lane, I almost guarantee you were bowling on a house shot (which aren't too bad), however, as more people bowl on a pattern the more unpredictable the pattern becomes and the more difficult it is to repeat shots.

Can I just say this video is very well made and entertaining to watch and even going as far as to tying my high score of 223. But one thing that stood out is if you ever find a ball someone may have left behind, turn it in to the people at the front desk. You never know if that was that persons only ball and make them spend tons of money for new equipment, they'll most defiantly appreciate it.

Great work! Bowling has a lot in common with Pool or Golf in that its difficult and a little luck to conquer an invisible obstacle. Been Bowling for a long time you completed some great milestones with a method thats really hard to master in 1 handed no thumb. Great job! The reason you hurt your finger is the ball wasnt drilled for you, and you have to keep your hand under the ball longer. Think of it like how you get a yo-yo to come back to you. Your feet and swing generate power your wrist and timing generate hook. Keep going awesome job!

As a bowler I really do hope that you continue to practice and succeed in this not so big sport. You will learn more about oil patterns, how to play the transition of them, different types of bowling balls and how they react to the lane. I’ve been bowling for 15+ years and still learn something new every time in order to improve my game. Side note, the community that you’ll encounter and the friendships that you’ll make is something that you’ll remember for the rest of your life.

Im 14 and have been bowling since i was 2. I didnt start bowling completively until i was about 10 or 11. Currently i avg 200 on a house shot and 175-180 on a sport shot. As you can see, it took me very long to even get to this point, so its awesome that with just a week youre already averaging 160. One thing i noticed is youre in between 2 styles. Youre cupping the ball like a 2 hander, but you are throwing with the form and release of a one hander. Only very few people can pull this off and be consistent without injuring themselves. The way you hold it and release puts a lot of stress on your fingers and palm which is more than likely why you were experiencing pain in your middle finger. However, people have been able to pull it off. The pro who bowled like you in the video was Jakob Butturf. Hes very good at the way he bowls, but for beginners it may not be the best style to start with, since youre prone to injury. That being said, for more consistency you might look into bowling traditionally one handed with your thumb in the ball or bowl 2 handed with two fingers like you currently do. Personally i bowl one handed, but that is because im a girl so physically its easier on my body. I wish you luck and hope you continue with bowling because we are a very nice community to be apart of! Also having a ball drilled to fit your hand could help

So, I have been bowling since I was a kid. I was averaging 170 as a 10 year old. As an adult, I average around 225. I have never bowled a perfect game. I have been close many, many times. It probably doesn't help. I bowl on a rotating sport shot. The fact is, you just have to match skill and get a few lucky breaks in between. Seeing your progress in 7 days is amazing. Bowling is a very hard sport. You have to use your eyes, brain, and body to average a high score.

@nascarfan8891 well like I said I also play on a rotating sports shot which is much, much harder than your usual house shot. I have hit 299, 279 I have hit mid 750 series a few times but yea never have. One of my guys on my team has had a 220 average for 30 years and has only bowled one. With a house shoe that night, no less. Needless to say, he kept the house shoe lol

very impressive progress. but bowling a 300 while also learning the sport for the first time in a week is fairly bold. it takes an impressive level of focus and skill to pull off such a move. you must be extremely accurate and not let anything the ball is doing tilt you in any way. anger and frustration is where a lot of bowlers crumble and start losing because when your head isn’t in the right space your body ain’t either, throwing things way off as your try to over compensate in other areas. staying relaxed and trying to throw the same shot from the second you pick up the ball to when you throw it, is extremely important.

In regards to the finger… I believe if you had bowled two handed it might’ve helped with the finger 🤪 also, you could have your ball re-drilled, and set up as finger tip, which probably would have been better on your finger as well… Regardless, you did amazing, and I am very proud of you! 🤓

Lodi is the house I bowl at and I got to tell you, sometimes it difficult to bowl there at times. I haven't had a perfect game there but, Montvale Lanes is where I have my perfect game. It took me 4 years of leagues and travel league bowling to bowl it. I hope you stay in the sport and improve your game. The community can be toxic but, there's others that like to give back to the game they love. I won my second tournament today. 220 average, which is a PR. I bowled 39 frames clean and had a clean % of 93.3 over 6 games. Ha ent bowled a 300 yet but with every week of training i feel one step closer.

I started taking bowling serious in September last year I have about a 185 average and just 2 weeks ago I bowled my first 300 and it seemed like it really came down to how loose my body felt how clear my head was and around the 5th frame I knew I was gonna get it

A lot of people don’t realize how hard bowling actually is and what a toll it takes on you, especially 20 or 30 games a week.

When I coach a newbie, I do it without any pins in the machine, if the lanes will let me do it. Scores don't matter. Proper form matters. Scores will come. I think destroying myself like you did made me a better coach.
