I found that if you place your hand just outside the light lamp and turn it on for first 10-15 seconds then place hand in light, the heat spike is not as bad. I do this method myself and I’m a wimp on the heat spike. Lol hope this helps Vee!

Good first effort! I've personally learned a ton from Nailcou (Anastasia Milton) channel regarding both builder and hard gels application and electric manicure. Since someone with allergies wants to maintain as much natural protection as possible throughout the service, I would probably only focus on getting cuticle off the nail plate and out of the way and not so much on any more aggressive removal of skin, dead or not... around the nail plate... at least until after product has been applied/cleansed and hands washed. HEMA is a big allergen, but considering the number of primers/bonders, allergies could come from anywhere. Using HEMA-free or di-HEMA (HEMA and di-HEMA are not the same) would be a place to start. Liz Morris at The Nail Hub channel has done several educational videos, some with Light Elegance chemist Jim McConnell discussing the matter of "HEMA & Nail Product Allergies" and other topics.

I think you are doing a great job, for someone who isn't used to buildergel!😂 I have made the experience, that I need to scratch the tip part too, otherwise the gel might separate from it. Gel always needs a wet layer or a scratched sureface to stick to. Try to never ever get gel in the cuticles....if it gets in there, no matter what you do, it will always run in there. It might help to do more that one layer, some gels are just more runny than others. For the heatspikes: try 3-5 second, take the hand back out and do that 2 to 3 times. Then go in for a full cure. That helps me every time. I hope these tips help.😊 I enjoy your videos alot and love your nailart!😂

I mentioned Celina Ryden in a dif comment but she did a video with Nail Career Education, and she has a method for heat spikes and self leveling gel where her technique is she has the client go into the light for a couple seconds, come out, in, and out, but has them flip their hand over while out so it doesn't level flat, and it cures fully without hitting a really hot spike.

I really enjoyed watching you learning this process. I actually enjoy this more than your acrylic videos for some reason. I like how you show the heat spikes and how to handle them in the lamp. Very genuine. I also liked watching you trying the Russian manicure dry manicure. It is tough to know when to stop when you’re learning. Just some advice for gel beginners-It’s super important to be so careful with gels because the more you get it on your skin the more risk to developing allergies. I definitely recommend practicing on a practice hand a lot before practicing on yourself. Great video!

Lissette is who I follow as well. I switched to gel 3 years ago and I love them. No odor, which is important to me because of lung issues, and I don't have issues with lifting anymore. Also your client who has developed allergies, it could be the primer as well. I can't use primer because I break out in a rash and my fingers swell. I just make sure I dehydrate well with alcohol and use a good base coat. no lifting. No greenies.

One of the tips that I loved and would have shared with you, had I been able to before you started, is to do a "flash cure" between coats/nails, (obvi a shorter maybe 5-10 sec cure if its a thin coat and 30 sec on the thicker coats), to sort of "set" the gel in place so it doesn't move. This way you don't overexpose or have to spend so much time curing each step. Then at the end, go back and do a "full cure". The full recommended time of 90 seconds or 60 depending on the brand.

You did great. The more gel you apply makes the bigger heat spike. Just cure for a few seconds after your application then move on to the next nail. If you feel the warmth start take your hand out. Not a big deal to the curing process if ya do. It’ll fully cured after you finish the hand. So…one finger, do slip layer, then building layer ( gel follows gel so push and guide) then cure for about 3 seconds and move on to the next finger.

I was a nail tech when I was young, I always had acrylic nails as it was my advertisement for my business. After having kids and life happening I changed direction. After using a cheap Ebay acrylic one day I developed an allergy and on the odd occasion I did a set for others if the powder even dusted on my skin I would break out in blisters. I then on the odd time I wanted a set went to a national chain in Australia Professionail and they have what they call a Gel powder. I have no reaction. That's all I know.

If builder gel doesn't work for her allergies, I understand you had trouble with polygel/acrygel. But in my experiences acrygel didn't break me out as much. And Makartt isn't the best polygel, neither is modelones(even though their clear is superior 😊and truly clear) but I like beetles and gelish pro acrygel. Certainly so much easier with the right brushes too. And as for your love of Amazon, I got you girl! Aokitec sells a brush set that's truly, imho, the best to use with any acrygel brand, even the runnier kinds. It's the 7 piece flat fan set. I prefer the larger three for over all work and the smaller brushes for my prep and cleanup. And as for myself, I have allergies that could go really badly with messy application. I had to stop going to the salons because they got clear base and the top coats in my cuticles and I developed really bad dermatitis. But I play guitar and must have a protective layer on my left hand so the strings don't eat my nails and I gotta have a little length on my right for finger style. And I truly live for nails... so... yeah I get it. Cutting my left hand down hurt emotionally 😅. Oh and you can use those brushes with builders too. I make press ons using builders. But I save on money by using the cheaper morovan for those. Pro-tip on builder gel impe the supernail clear builder is thicker and you can work it around the cuticles with more control. I get mine on marlo. And marlo has super low pro prices. Plus their shipping is faster than Amazon- much of the time- not always. But the supernail builder, it self levels in about 45-90 seconds, so you . And I've not had a bad experience using that one either. I hope Brittany doesn't have anymore breakouts but if she does then maybe this'll help.

Just an observation, next time try to do it 2 steps, so from the middle and sidewalls and then switch the rotation, it would give you even better results ❤

It's definitely better to do it as a slip layer and not cure it .....but you done amazing pretty lady ..I watch lissette that's how I learned all the gel stuff but sad part is I've definitely became allergic to gel so I can't do it on myself anymore so I use gloves and do others and still practice alot on my fake hand cause you can never learn to much ...Susie also has good videos explaining too.....but I have now moved on to acrylic cause thats what I've had to start doing on myself to be able to do my nails again and I'm so happy I can wear acrylic ....
