So, friends, after feeling pretty dang tired this week, I wanted to do something a little more laid back. And so what do I do? Choose a very intricate, complicated and stressful baking project LOL. I have always loved the work of ‪@ChristineHMcConnell‬ so I wanted to try my hand at recreating her tarantula cookies! Despite feeling super frantic for most of this and embracing my chaos, this was super fun (and tasty lol). ANYWHOOOOOO I hope you enjoy!
I love you all!!!

@@baritonebynight it's not too hard to follow though. Most of the "make ___" is usually just pretty straight forward stuff if youve been around the block with baking and all. Then you'll know how to do alot of it already and don't particularly need step by step stuff. It's more advanced recipes I guess is what I'm getting around too and all in good fun to try it out a few times until you get the hang of it. 😊

I was raised in a house with a professional cake decorator. So a lot of baking stuff was ingrained in me from a young age. Baking is relaxing for me -- but only if I'm making something I've made 100 times before. I admire Rachel's willingness to try things she's never done before in front of an audience (even if it is edited for YT). I love that you don't let the naysayers discouraged you from trying new things, Rachel. 🥰🥰🥰

Yes, I LOVE baking just for the activity, I hope I could do more of it, but I live alone and have to eat every single piece of what I make unless I have friends over, so it limits my hobby :'D I find it so interesting how much of a different outlook I seem to have to Rachel with these things, she seems to stress over the process and put up with it for the end product, while I definitely like the process, both with baking and crafts, and the end product feels kind of like a bonus? It's nice to have the thing I made, but I mostly did it for the pastime it offered 😄 Of course with baking I'm a total sugar fiend so there's that :'D

I love your fall-themed videos Rachel! I was subscribed to Christine's Patreon for a year or so and watched all the content she had up. I love her style and attention to detail, but LITERALLY NOTHING she does can be replicated by a normal human being. Her 'tutorials' descend into half hour long documentaries on how incredible her creations are, but I never find anything I can personally use in my own life. The project is always done in the most complicated manner possible, and she never takes shortcuts like anyone else would. She must know almost none of the people watching her will actually try and copy her projects. I like to support a talented and hard working woman, but I felt so not-good-enough in comparison, it was actually a little depressing after awhile! Seeing your attempt at making her spider cookies is so meaningful to me because you really did your best and the result was super cute. But your portrayal of the project is ultimately 1000% more honest about how any of us would feel doing the same thing. Even though you are obviously very creative and talented, you are very humble and down to earth. That's why I love to watch your content, and look forward to your videos. You have TONS of content compared to her and it's all stuff I could imagine using and I actually learn from. So, long story short.. love you both but you make me feel OK about being a human and not a goddess! ♥

Christine McConnell's superpower is patience. Yes she's super creative and talented but the amount of patience that woman has to execute her ideas is beyond anything I could ever even hope to achieve. She makes things look easy and yeah, sure, she's not performing brain surgery or anything but omg, the PATIENCE required. I do not have it. I will never have it.

Rachel, I really appreciate how often you take creative chances and bring us along for the ride. Creativity is supposed to be fun and engaging and yes, sometimes messy and flawed! The point isn't about achieving perfection. And yet so many of us get caught up in wanting to make things perfect (I know I certainly do), to the point that we stop trying new things or taking creative chances. So I just really appreciate you showing how fun and messy and fulfilling creativity can be, especially when the end result isn't perfect. ❤
