I Tried LIQUID MASKS ... Here's How It Went

On this video I use Vallejo Liquid Mask to come up with a design for my 6s rustler beast project build. Last video I used rc car nitro fuel to remove the previous paint job, and this video I try using liquid masks to see if that does any better than tape.

If you want to get sharp edges using masking tape, you can spray a clear coat and let it dry before spraying your color paint. this way the clear coat will fill up all the leaks under the masking tape.

I saw your video as I used Vallejo liquid mask the first time I tried liquid mask as well - as it's one of the cheaper liquid masks. Using Vallejo, and then later switching to Bittydesign, I can tell you that Vallejo liquid mask is way too soft to use for RC bodies. It doesn't cut very clean, and is a bit gummy. Bittydesign, on the other hand, is a firmer liquid mask and cuts very nicely. It's more expensive, but the results go along with it. Keep at it - don't let your experience with this liquid mask cloud your next attempt because it's just not the right kind of liquid mask to use for RC.

✌🏻😎🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 Was it a brand new brush or was it an old one that you have cleaned using a solvent based cleaner? Liquid mask is water based & that’s probably why it was clumping up & not sticking to the body. Or the nitro fuel wasn’t completely washed off. You Mix the liquid mask well & use a water based cleaner to prep your tools. Stop testing ideas using an rc body. Take an image of the clear body & draw/colour your ideas over the image. I don’t know what that brand of liquid mask is like but if you want to know I use bitty design liquid mask. Get an ultra fine ceramic stone to resharpen your blades. Blades are only disposable because we allow them to be. Reduce Reuse & Recycle ♻️ Need any more information on painting hit me up 👍🏻

Brush was new, but I did notice the liquid mask (Vallejo) would dry up quickly and the uneven hair strokes would clump it up unlike the foam brush which kept it smooth. Thanks for the tips and for watching! 🤘🏽

Can I give you a little tip for using this liquid mask….don’t approach using it by covering an entire area and then trying to cut your lines out of the liquid mask….try laying down your edge with masking tape on the side to be painted, then apply the liquid mask to block your lines. Doing it this way will give you super crisp, clear lines. Unfortunately, Vallejo Liquid Mask is not really viscous enough to cut cleanly through.

@@Justin_311 ya know, I’ve can’t really speak for any other brands because I’ve only used Vallejo, but aside from not being able to get very fine detail with the gel, it works 👍
