So I forgot to properly introduce why I’m reviewing these products lol. I’m testing overly sponsored ‘viral’ skincare products! The Naked Sundays lip oil isn’t an overly sponsored product but the product I was waiting for never arrived so I had to fill a gap 🤓

@athenatanyimin4035 as a Truly Beauty ambassador, I'd strongly suggest going elsewhere. Their products are basically meant to be used a couple times before the jar is gone. They're a total waste of money IMO🤷‍♀️ And if you do decide to try them, I'd definitely go to TJ Maxx. I was there yesterday and they have about half of all of Trulys products

In case he doesnt see this/doesnt respond: Im pretty sure he has actually touched on the brand a bit, in one of his pet peeves videos, where he expresses his annoyance with their glazed donut after shave serum or smthn? I cant remember any specific remarks but I think he said that he didnt have an interest in the brand at the time of filming? Hope this helps lol (Im also waiting for a review on truly one day lol)

Is there an ingredient break down somewhere? It would be cool if you had a video that's literally just "squalane" here's what it is and what it does, why it's different from x y z etc... Ik you hit on these things across videos but having 1 up-to-date video dictionary with all these different ingredients would be so helpful for us with poor memory lol

Why is it low key annoying when expensive (overpriced) products are actually really nice? 😂
@JamesWelsh
@JamesWelsh 11 ай бұрын
Loool it’s so annoying! For me it’s because I don’t want to push the idea that good skincare has to be expensive! CT in particular I feel are good at creating average products for an above average price!
@eleanorjenks7874
@eleanorjenks7874 10 ай бұрын
Isn’t it?! I would say in terms of being over priced, it is but not to the same degree other high end brands are in my opinion (e.g Kim Skkin, Dr B Sturm, Goldfaden MD, Venn). This sits in the, you could be £10-15 lower. That being said CT has very strong brand equity so I also don’t blame them for using it.

I bought the L’Oréal foundation last month in two shades since I have olive undertone it’s hard to find the perfect shade, and it’s perfect. I have rosacea as well, and it’s exactly what you said, it feels moisturizing yet not heavy. I like to layer the area of my cheeks to really get rid of the redness. Btw, I find it goes better with a beauty blender or a brush.

I LOVE the L’Oreal tinted serum! I have rosacea and acne and it gives such a lovely glow and it is actually buildable too. Also once you start sweating and getting oily it doesn’t separate like most makeup, you just start glowing more and don’t look like you’re melting 😂 but yeah it is really messy! Worth it though!

I’m not sure if this is a point of interest, but Clarins remains as an independent company, not owned by one of the larger companies like Estée Lauder, etc. I think they make quality, luxury products and yes, perhaps not the most exciting, but some of their products are really lovely.

I really love the l'oreal tint! As someone with super oily skin, I still love the hydration hyaluronic acid gives. I like to apply it by adding a little bit to the back of my hand and then tapping it in with my fingers. I noticed if I add too much product I start to look a bit silly, so thin layers are best!

I've had the L'Oréal tinted serum for a few months now, and to me it was very much a Goldilocks situation. I'd had their foundation for a long time but found it too thick, then I tried the powder version of it and it made my skin very dry-looking (although I have more of a combination skin), and then I discovered the serum and bingo! It fits my combination, acne-prone skin super well, it looks really good all day long and you can build up coverage as you prefer. As you said the packaging can be a little annoying, but I think for the price it's a pretty awesome product!

You are missing some great products not checking out or using Clarins. Their eye gel, in a small tube,I have been using for decades before putting on my makeup, it almost instantly depuffs and cools my eyes…it works! Also, their hand and nail treatment hand cream is so Fabulous that I have been using it for 40 years!! I am very, very particular about my hand cream. This cream is not sticky, is not greasy, but it so softens your hands and really makes them look very smooth. They are both worth the money and you do not need a lot of either product. I swear by both.

I am 51 and used Clarins from the age of about 30 through to a couple of years ago. I have to say it was amazing on my skin and I can definitely see the benefit of having a good skincare regime now. Now I’m in my 50s I have started using retinol and a 6 step routine from other brands but I have no wrinkles or sagging compared to friends/family the same age as me. I definitely don’t look like I’m 51 and I do believe using Clarins helped with that.

Had an older friend introduce me to the brand many years ago. The samples worked amazing and I gradually switched to their products. My skin loved them. But then years of sun damage started to show up and got into the skin care world. Discovered there are cheaper ways to get results that are proving just as good (especially the Korean products) tho I do splash out on DECIEM products in November I have a younger sister I don't get to see IRL as we don't live in the same country but her skin looks pretty flawless too. I can't decide if it's just genetics after all (because my mum's skin also) or because she's also found products that are helping with hers. Clarins was really good for my skin though. The minor problems I used to have became a thing of a past and I did have the softest skin throughout.

I've been on the hunt for high SPF lip products that don't taste awful, and the best I've found so far are the Bondi Sands SPF lip balms. I've only tried their watermelon and strawberry ones, but they are affordable and don't taste nasty so I'm probably gonna buy their other flavors eventually. If anyone else has SPF 30+ lip product recommendations that don't taste gross, I'd love to hear them

Hi James - I know it seems quite redundant but could you do an updated 2023 cleansers? There’s the newer glow recipe, Paula’s choice, cera ve, tatcha - is it worth the money or any truthful advice for choosing the right cleanser for aging skin? Tinks! I always find both cleansers and moisturizer are the two products I don’t find exciting so I often run out then think huh- did I even like that last one? Solid makeup oil cleansers I feel you’ve covered plenty this year but it’s been a minute since you’ve done a cleanser based review session - maybe do it with Robert to chat on what actually removes makeup and what doesn’t slash the differences in your skin needs? Again love you all and thank you!

Hi James. Would you recommend the Charlotte tilbury water cream for dry skin? You made me laugh about the horse manure😂!!

God, that CT cream is actually nice for oily/combination skin... I also bought the small size to try it out and I went through the whole thing in a few weeks, which RARELY happens. I probably wouldn't use it during the day but at night- as long as it's not super bitter cold, it's pretty much perfect. "Oily" skin moisturizers either disappear or they get even more slicky (hard to explain) and anything catered towards drier skin is always too greasy. This is the perfect in between.

I think the foundation would likely fare better in a bottle with a pump instead of the dropper. I might actually pick some of it up myself to try as I'm after exactly what that is offering. My skin is incredibly dry at the best of times so it would be nice to try something that isn't going to make me look like a lizard after about 20mins lol

@@skiergirl4753 oh, that's a bummer actually. I'm after something that is very light. I might get it to try for the days where I need more coverage. It would be nice to have something that doesn't give me lizard skin after 20 mins. Do you have any recommendations yourself? I am on a hunt to get myself some light/sheer + medium + full coverage foundations that don't dry my skin out, leaving me looking like an old crocodile skin bag 🤦‍♀️😂 it's actually shameful how much I have already but most don't sit on my skin nicely at all. Thanks in advance either way 😊💜

@@skiergirl4753there’s definitely more coverage than it appears to look like on James face in this video. The lighting maybe makes it look lighter. It’s called a tint buts it’s definitely a light buildable coverage foundation. It is lovely though.

@@deboraherskine8503I have been noticing the same thing as I’m getting older. This is one of my fave foundations for that reason. Another light foundation that I love but that is pretty pricey, is Ellis Faas Skin Veil Foundation. I also rate Embroylisse cream for wearing under foundations if you have very dry skin.

James have you tried the Ilia skin tint? It’s sooo good. Similar vibe as the maybelline but the coverage is just perfect and it will not make you dry. I’ve never gotten so many compliments on my skin and I’m 41!! Not too dewy either where it looks greasy

@@theemmadog I’ve also tried the Saie slip tint, (basically tinted moisturizer with Hyaluronic acid) and it too has a beautiful finish. I actually switched to this within the last week bc I was running out of my ilia and wanted to try something similar, and my one gripe with the Ilia is the packaging. It comes in a dropper style bottle and it’s messy. Besides that it’s A gorgeous foundation but I like the tube with a pump packaging better on the Saie! And it’s maybe a smidge I’m talking a HAIR less dewy. Which I’m kind of fine with in the winter!

I've deduced that (for me anyway) it's the Octocrylene in lip sunscreen products that tastes really disgusting - the taste never goes away and it's very overpowering IMO so I avoid it (finding lip balms without the 'crylene is been difficult too, unfortunately). It's also the ingredient that really burns my eyes when it's in face sunscreens - I remember it because octoCRYlene makes me cry 😂

I am going to give it a try too but I do think it looks like it would be much better with a pump dispenser. I imagine they have stuck with the pipette to stay more with the illusion that it is a skincare product and not a makeup product.

I love your perspective on skin care. I use some of the products you've reviewed positively for a long time. Like K-sunscreen has been leagues better than others for a long time. I started using many products from Korea over a decade ago. I tend to favor ayurvedic style of skin care. No unnecessary parfumes and additives. When i here you bring up your Rosacea, I'm always curious if you've ever tried Keora water as hydrating spray? Its also called Pandanus water.. its better than any Icelandic hydrating sprays I've ever tried. Im 47 and get asked for ID when i purchase drinks/alcohol. Keora water is great for calming inflammation in my opinion. But im more curious of you're opinion on it, if you've heard of it, or would you use it?

I've never returned a product faster than I did that spf lip oil. It literally tastes like being poisoned and slowly dying. I genuinely don't like a single product from Naked Sundays, the chemical sunscreen stings my eyes worse than anything else ever and the mineral one is thick, pasty and orange on my skin. K-beauty is my forever sunscreen destination.
