As a millennial I remember what drugstore skincare was like when I was young... it was not pretty. Anything for acne prone skin was drying, full of harsh ingredients, abrasive, etc. I feel like it's SO MUCH BETTER now that you actually can get a decent, basic routine at a drugstore. If Target counts as 'drug store' then you are GOLDEN because they have all kinds of really good skincare brands there now. I go there for like half of my routine and I love to browse for ideas for what I want to try next!

I have Lupus and my skin is permanently dry and dehydrated. I cannot live without a moisturizer. Sometimes I use 2. Maybe she uses a high end moisturizer which doesn't fit with the rest of the video. I don't believe for a minute she doesn't use any and her skin looks like that. I think it's great that you are not too proud to show brands that you said you wouldn't use. Shows your integrity to providing truthful and honest reviews. ❤

If anyone is interested in the Neutrogena cleanser, they have a fragrance-free version of that line (both the cleanser and moisturizer). Just make sure to read the label because the containers are the same, the label has some white and says "Fragrance Free"

The Urban Hydration aloe gel mask is my FAVORITE! It is so good if you have eczema or flare up. It's so cooling. I like that the business is family owned and has an environmental give back mission. I don't recommend it to take off makeup though, that's not it's original purpose.

I am older and I work with a derm on my skin plan. Most of her recommendations for cleansers and moisturizers are drug store. Her favorite tinted sunscreen is from a drug store. The only pricey stuff I use are actives. I am middle aged, so I budget for it. $$$ does not equal effective. I have paid lots for crap too. And cerave ointment on your neck works wonders.

What you described using the Aloe Gel mask sounds a lot like the Peter Thomas Roth HA mask which I have and love so I'll definitely look out for this as an inexpensive alternative. ETA: I don't like fragrance in a lot of products especially serum because it's meant to be a leave-in product and serums tend to be lighter in texture so I feel like it seeps into the skin in a way and don't know if I want a potential irritant to do that as well.

I have tried every "gentle" affordable cleanser because I have the dryest skin. They all fall into 2 categories: too much of a moisturizer and not enough surfactants (I end up with pimples because my face wasn't adequately cleaned) or is NOT as gentle as advertised and leaves my face squeeky (which causes peeling to appear in a few hours.) The ONLY 2 cleansers that have a perfect mix of surfactants and moisturizers are this Neutrogena cleanser (~5 pounds) and the Curel foaming cleanser (~12 pounds), which can both be bought from Boots.

Those products are actually kinda expensive in my country but they’re quite nice matter of fact Vichy’s sunscreen is the only sunscreen that actually protects my skin well Soo

Aloe Vera is good for make up remover including on the eyes, I use it when I don't have my usual on me. I really like caudalie when I actually buy it, but the smell is super strong. A lot of people like it but I don't love it

Neutrogena is one drug store brand I always see results with! They have great somewhat affordable anti-aging products! (I'm 44) I also swear by L'oreal Revitalift moisturizer. Not the one with sunscreen though. That one makes my foundation roll off my skin lol.

Clean & Clear was a nightmare on my skin - my acne was an agressive type. I even tried Clinique when at the time it came out and became super popular - it also was a nightmare which I still am traumatised and wouldn't try it ever again. I had to go to a dermatologist to treat it. (I didn't evade scars unfortunately) But still... I am pretty happy now. I use a lot of Vichy, La Roche-Posey, some Neutrogena for Acne and other stuff like CeraVe and Avene. ^^

I really appreciate the affordable skincare videos, I always find something to try! I have a couple questions: do you cleanse your face at the bathroom sink and if so how do you not get water all over the counter? I get water all over the place 😭

Wait, when talking about the toner alternatives were you talking about Byoma’s toner or their face mist?? I’m interested in a toner/mist to spray in between my steps to rehydrate.

Try thermal water. Full of soothing minerals. I use Uriage or Avene mostly but Vichy and Evian do them too. I use after cleansing to dampen face and soothe. Then serum. After serum soaks in I spray again and moisturise. For me it's cheap, also in the EU. I get 2 big 300ml cans for £7. I think it can cost double or more in US? Still works out cheap though.

So I have freckles, but I also have olive skin and hormonal acne, so I get dark spots also. I've finally gotten to a place where I actually like my freckles, but I don't really like the dark spots I get. If I started using a vitamin c or something that evens the skintone, would it take away my freckles, or just the dark spots?? Cuz I kinda want to keep my freckles 🤷‍♀️

Not fit nothing, but I have a very few freckles and use vitamin c regularly and my freckles are still there. It has been helping with the darkness under my eyes though. Hope this helps❤

I have freckles too, and can say that no, you shouldn't notice any difference when using dark spot treatments. Niacinamide for example works to stop melanin spreading into nearby cells, and things like licorice root and vitamin C work to brighten and even all over tone. No products I can think of will bleach out naturally pigmented freckles, but they are very good at minimising and healing marks left from blemishes 😊

Always enjoy watching your videos. ❤️ much love from Pakistan! Aloe based products are great for all skin types especially acne and dry skin. Basically calms and restores skin. It’s best to plant it at home and use daily in summers for face and hair mask! You can make aloe drink too. Just South Asians things 😂
