Thanks for the detail! You answered one question I had, which was whether multiple "external" screens from a Macbook would be possible. That the answer is "no" is kind of a deal-breaker for me, as this was the one use I was most interested in out of this device - potentially limitless computing "screens" for things Vision Pro likely will not run natively, like high-end professional apps for programming, graphic design, and video editing.

When it comes to the price, one thing people don't realize is that the first ever cellphone that came out in like the 80s (the massive block one), was released at a price of $4,000! that's around $11,000 in today's money. The Vision Pro is expensive but for a first-generation product and truly one of the first of its kind, it's not overpriced. Technology advances quick. and the size and price will drop every subsequent year after release.

Had an Apple II+ back in the day then a Mac Plus in college. Bought the first iPhone and the first Apple Watch and and early iPad Air. (Still rocking a 2017 27inch iMac). Yes, I am a fan boy but I haven't really regretted any early adopter purchases from Apple. I plan on getting the Vision Pro on launch day. I know they will get better and more affordable over time but I want to be there for the ride. Can't wait!

@@VitiateTheImmortal The minimum wage where I live is only around $300 (and I know people who make less) and that's actually not enough if you're married with kids, have to pay for schools or tuition fees and hospital bills (which aren't free), etc. Glad to know some people on the other side of the world don't have to struggle like we do. LOL

The tech apple implemented into this is incredible, and from what I've heard it works great as well. But for now the price is still a bit much, especially for tech that many people won't need. I don't see this replacing our phones but for what it's trying to do, it still does it amazingly

I don’t think it’s suppose to replace phones, it’s suppose to replace your laptop or even desktop for productivity. As a network engineer this would be perfect for scripting with multiple screens

There are already rumors that Apple is working on a non Pro model. Just understand that it will be a slightly less than experience. This is not one of those situations where they can cut cost with materials as this device is mostly glass, plastic and cloth with a little aluminum. They will have to cut cost with the CPU. It really depends on when it comes out though. If it’s two year down the line, I see no problem with them selling this current model for a cheaper price while they release a lighter more powerful version then.

I’m really glad the cable goes into the battery - it means you’ll always have a topped up battery when you unplug and walk around. It seems you’d need to take off the headset to hot swap the batteries though - I wonder if this is to try and encourage you to periodically take a break and / or rest your eyes. Or perhaps you can easily swap without taking off (perhaps the circular design and rotation lock enables this more easily…) But this would require 2 mins of power onboard the headset (to stop it cutting off) and I haven’t heard this mentioned yet

Another use case for me would be to use it on flights. Wondering if anyone got to see a carrying case for this thing. Not entirely sure how I would get this into my regular carry on. Also, how loud is this thing to others around you if you are not using it with a pair of AirPods and, is the sound quality better with or without AirPods?

Sound is supposed to be much better than the best airpods They actually have the. AI scan the placement of your ears as part of the prep process before you put it on the first time.

I think it will be a field where Apple will have no competition like the iPad, the ecosystem is very very important in that kinda of product and even more importantly the apps and developers support.

This thing is mainly focused on other forms of entertainment, connectivity, and productivity. People may not end up buying this thing, but this apple does not have a direct competitor at the moment.

@@rcash3625 I mean I don't know if other companys will have the same power as apple, the ecosystem is too strong and probably the most important thing in this product.... As a Samsung / Windows fan I think if Samsung tried the same thing support by developers would be 0. The only way to work is Google to make a similar OS and "sell" it like Android and the other brands do a skin. If that is not the case i don't think alone any brand other than apple could do it 😅🤷🏻‍♂️

Definitely want one!! But I won’t be the early Guinea pig . That’s a lot of money to drop . Plus, 2 hours between charges seems kinda low ? I would use it for movies and such. I’m curious how long it takes to fully charge the battery .

From the various comments I’ve seen about gaming and entertainment, I think the wrong crowd is viewing this product. This is more of a productivity device, if you’re running multiple screens for work like I do then yeah this perfect especially when you’re traveling with work and can’t take those screens with you. My current VR set up is more expensive than this but with the numerous cords and the desktop, I’m confined to just my office. I’d buy it 🤷🏽‍♂️

I would be surprised if these ever become cheaper if we use Microsoft HoloLens as a reference or even Samsung Fold devices, that haven't decreased in price over 4 iterations now. Each year, new tech will likely keep them priced the same until maybe they release an Apple Glass like NReal which are the sunglasses you mentioned will be there some day but have been available for quite some time. Impressive tech, no doubt.

Good video. Regarding the price, unfortunately now the price is set at $3,499 I cannot see it coming down until a feature stripped XE (or equivalent" is released. Apple have pegged this price point now, and while it will get better, and a slightly chaper feature stripped version will get released, it will in this ballpark.

@@LawsonEnglish I don't think that mattters. Now the "pro" version has been set at $3,499 I think that's set in stone. It was not presented as "Vision Developers" and Apple never drop prices on their kit directly. We will need to wait for budget versions, which means the "pro" version will always be $3,499, even once it's many gens old. Non pro versions will be a discount to $3,499, so not $2,000 for example, but more reasonably expect $3,000 for a feature stripped non-pro version later

@@karlfran0404 It most certainly IS presented as "Vision Developers." All the PR and reviews are taken straight from Apple's presentation to developers at their $1500/ticket professional conference. And they said explicitly that these are pre-production models of something being released FOR DEVELOPERS in 6-11 months. That crazy fanboys can buy one doesn't chagne that. THey're only selling less than amillion of them the first year. It is 18-24 monthsf from now that you will see the consumer/prosumer devices released.

If i want to have a dream where i could fly, it can simulate these thoughts and visions whenever i want instead of them happening randomly. Since this is 5 time price of the Meta quest 3 ($649 )... it should have 5 time the storage(512gb) ... so roughly it should be 2.5 TB .... it's just my guess or wishful thinking :)

The fact that it has a FREAKIN COMPUTER CPU gives this thing a huge advantage over the HTC Vive and Facebook Meta Quest. The price should be cheaper though.

Compare this to the Varjo XR3 and you’ll get a fairer comparison, in the same league. Price will come down over time. This is already half the price of the XR3, so we’re definitely going in the right direction!

Actually there is something out there that works at this level called the Varjo XR-3 that cost 6k+. From all the rumors I’ve heard, this was Apple’s target and they nailed it out the park. Keep in mind that headset is an extremely niche device mainly for enterprise use and it has to be hooked up to a high end computer to work. This is the level of Apple Vision Pro, not Quest 2 or 3. There is a reason those are $500 to 1k.

@@davemunger8803 correct. Apple Vision Pro does not. I was referring to the Varjo MX-3. It has to be hooked to a computer. Apple used them as a benchmark to make AV Pro and for half the price.

Someone calculated refresh rate based on sampling speed of I think 15 milliseconds which makes the RR 88fps. So I guess we’ll call it 90.

The pros and cons of a AR/VR experience is the gradual disappear of physical activities in the real world that use various functions of the human body. While some of these functions can be integrated into the AR/VR world, not everything will be. Looking forward to a dissection of the pros and cons of using the Apple Vision Pro when it gets out.

@@danisaksson3214 Was going to say the same. The visual experience is enhanced YES with Vision Pro, but will people spend more time on AR/VR than they do with regular screen time now? Not saying that there won’t be a shift in cultural norms, but for now just go to the park, or the mall, or the train, or at home - what are people doing? They’re on screens…. If anything due to the weight, perhaps this will LIMIT screen time because no one wants this thing on their head for that long (hee hee). Looking forward to seeing how this plays out.

@@danisaksson3214 not really. Right now, you have a choice. Go out and partake in physical activities, or stay indoors in front a screen. The AR/VR experience is going to negate the need for interacting in physically activities even more. Like I said, happy to read a dissection of the pros and cons.

The developer sofware has finger-level gesture recognition built in. YOu should be able to practice finger-spelling with this thing, as well as get AI-generated feedback to your karate moves or your sword forms.

Here is my take : As is these headsets can be used for chats, workouts that focus on boxing, some (Highly vertigo inducing) games and watching movies. All very cool things but all things the Meta Quest can do for $500 as opposed to Apples $3500. I am totally sure this has the traditional Apple hardware excellence... but if it doesn't basically do 7 times more things than the Quest, I'll stick with the Quest.

I don’t think those are what this headset is going to be for; it’ll be used for entertainment very sparingly but this will probably be for replacing someone’s laptop or even desktop in terms of productivity. If I’m scripting and using multiple screens to do so or someone was an accountant and needed to run a program, this headset can do it, Meta Quest cannot with its Snapdragon processor.

@@superiortoall22 But all of that desperately needs better inout methods than this (Or any headset) offers. Which limits the apps it can run. You aren't going to be doing a lot of work with dev IDE's or spreadsheets with voice, after all. It just strikes me that this is currently a bit overpriced for what it offers at the moment... Maybe in the third or fourth iteration it'll be able to accomplish it but as is I just can't see it supporting what it would need to be to be worth the price.

@@superiortoall22 Basically like I said - unless I can get 7 times more use out of this than I could get out of the Quest 3... it doesn't make sense. For me at least. Others, I can't say - I can only say for me.

@@TimothyCollins if I’m not mistaken it can be used with a keyboard and the clear pass through allows for the person to look down (if need be) if they need to type something obtuse like passwords or code/commands. For my job or probably any engineer/dev job that would probably be all that’s needed, just use hands or eye tracking to scroll or switch screens. The Meta Quest cannot replace a laptop/desktop, the Vision Pro can. Like I said I don’t think gamer/entertainment is the dedicated crowd, I think if that’s what a person primarily uses VR for entertainment than yes, a lesser VR headset is totally worth it

@@superiortoall22 Yeah, but here is the thing - the Quest offers that as well (It has for about a year now I think) and I tried it... it's nice, to be sure, but not something I'd want to use for any extended period of time. it's very possible Apple has figured out how to master that and all but still... Like I said, unless it's 7 times better the price is still prohibitive.

It seems like a good first attempt. Until I could use it productively, probably with mouse / keyboard and can use most normal apps, I suppose it'll be a consumption device, for watching videos, playing games etc.

But most in our culture think otherwise! - car payments, car leases, subscriptions of all kinds, credit card usage, mortgages they can’t really afford, etc. I’m not saying I like it - but plenty will justify the reduced monthly fee, and WILL buy it… that’s my prediction.

honestly i dont really see apple dropping the price much, its essentially a portable 4k 120inch display with the compute of a laptop, apple has every right to price this like a new category of laptops.
