It's just unfortunate that he's spending so much time after uploading this video deleting any comment that brings up him not following through on his membership and subscription promises. I dunno if he's gonna just keep trying to ignore the issue after an /r/books thread with thousands of upvotes happened today calling him out on it.

@@t0ebeans It looks like he did finally give an explanation, release the long awaited members Q&A video, and shut down the membership system since he admitted he couldn't keep up with it. So that's something, though I feel like we really need a more public apology for not only the ghosting, but the deleting of all the comments and such activity that seemed like he was actively trying to cover up the issue until that massive /r/books thread happened.

I love how it's a more realistic version of cottagecore that you portrayed/experienced, life in the rural countryside is so much more than wearing floral prints and picnics which the online movement seems to focus on. As a so-called 'country bumpkin' I live like this daily, and I wish more people would realise how cottagecore isn't just a photo opportunity and a chance to brag on social media, but an entire culture in itself. Though you pointed to the fact that there is an element of privilege to countryside living (: 'not everyone can just go and frolic in the fields, we have to work,') but us countryside folk have to work too, and often we live in the countryside because we can't afford to live in the cities. Growing your own food and foraging can be seen as a privilege but to many of us it is still work, regardless of the 'aesthetic' value, and it is hard work to maintain a garden but it's more economical and sustainable growing your own as opposed to travelling to the nearest town or city to find a supermarket. It's a matter of perspective; the grass is always greener until you see how much you have to water it.

I like your appreciation, but I can speak for myself that in my country, which is not from the first world. It’s so much harder here, farmers and people from the countryside don’t earn enough to buy a simple potatoe, a pound of rice, and some can’t even go to school… there is no internet there, sometimes even water is missing. So you still have a huge privilege, even if it’s not the most.
@annag8448
@annag8448 Жыл бұрын
@@princepark1013 I think it's more that the word often gets misused, and those who think that others are privileged often don't fully contemplate the situations other people are in. The 'privilege' of living close to fields doesn't counteract the fact that some people can't afford to buy food from a supermarket, and those who take offence or 'see it as an insult' as you said, are often more upset at the fact that they are not being understood, that their hardships are being brushed over and suppressed. Yes, I'm privileged to live near fields, but 'privilege' doesn't mean 'perfect'. I still can't afford to buy fucking tomatoes unless I grow my own.

This actually reminded me of when I rewatched ‘ponyo’ by studio ghibli and was puzzled the entire time thinking about why it wasn’t as good as the first time I watched it. As the end approached I started to criticize the story line and scoff at the dialogue, it was then I realized that it wasn’t the movie that had lost it’s magic, it was I who had lost my ability to believe in it. I couldn’t stop my tears at realizing that the wonder in me had started to shrivel as I was growing up, I still can’t watch the other movies in fear that I have forgotten the magic of childhood and will no longer be able to love the movies like I once did. It hurts to grow up. This vlog was so beautiful, there’s just something about stripping life down to the small things that makes my heart wrench. Love you Jack

It's a bit obscure but the book Greenwillow by BJ Chute is lovely. I also recommend Letters to a Young Poet by Rilke, At Home in Mitford by Jan Karon, the Secret Garden by Frances Burnett, and The Scent of Water by Elizabeth Goudge (this one is somewhat religious but it deals with the idea of a souls renewal and coming into a greater sense of peace and it was life-changing for me). I hope you find rest, comfort, peace and whatever else you're looking for.

The video is about a person's experience trying out the cottage-core aesthetic in Scotland. They document their journey from taking the Caledonian Sleeper train from London to Edinburgh, exploring bookshops, buying books, and then heading to Dundee and the countryside to stay in a cottage. They share their slow living experience, enjoying ordinary things, appreciating nature, reading books, and lighting a fire. They also mention the books they bought, which include poetry and Scottish literature. The video shows various scenic views and moments of the person enjoying their time in Scotland. What are we doing? In a good way, we're jealous!

Your laugh is so infectious that one laughs and both break out into a pearl of laughter. But, you’ve got lots of good reads to bring you down to earth - or not. I’m going to look into reading HEX & Secret Garden. Thx!

Lovely video! But have to mention that the Fringe is so much more than just a comedy festival! It's the biggest arts festival in the world and includes dance, theatre, poetry, basically all forms of creative performance.
