If you think it looks worse than the 2013 version, you have not played the 2013 version. It is of course not good, but that assessment is simply ridiculous. Further, Sony did not mess up every port, they messed up this one and they had some issues with Horizon Zero Dawn (which was pretty much their first). All other ports were actually pretty good with only very minor issues. You see that is the problem with you...you seem like a smart guy but you are not able to accurately assess issues and put them appropriately into words. It might be better for you to script things carefully before putting them out there instead of just winging it...because let's be real...you are not good at winging it since you lack the necessary rhetorical skills.

Don't think sony started to port the game that early. They probably made the decision and put things in full motion within the last 5 to 6 years. Regardless, the state of the game is horrible. In my opinion, if i go to play this game during holiday season 2023 and its still having the same issues like today then yeah they screwed up big time. Its unfortunate that its becoming standard for companies to release buggy messes. And games that are so badly optimized that its not even funny.

Luke, you need to include frame time graphs in your metrics. It's very good judge of how a game runs while pushing a specific fps. For example, even at your 30pfs, it looks like the game still struggles and studders... frame time graphs help illustrate that to your audience

For Optimized settings focused channel i recommend "BenchmarKing" he's been killing in that regard (the concept is : compare all graphical settings from low to ultra quality and performance wise and finding the optimal setting for great performance and roughly no quality loss, so you get the game looking the best while still keeping great fps)

Unfortunatly the performance overlay he is using is massively flawed and shows very wrong data. CPU should be at 90-100% and GPU with the 4090 should be between 60 and 85. I can tell because I have the same hardware.

I'm actually running it on a laptop: Gtx 1650 4GB, i5 10300H and 16gb ram. I went a little over the red line (passinf from the yellow one) and did some optimizations based off @benchmarking video. Works Really well, on 35 fps average with AMD FSR Balanced. Shader comp took about 2 hours. Note: Fropm the DigitalFoundry video, if you want readable textures, textures must be at least on high. If not, text is barely visible.

Gtx 1065 played on low except for environment textures on medium. 1080 taken down to 900p with FSR 2.0. Played whole game at 37-43 fps. Incredible experience even at a compromised quality. But it was my first time playing the game.

Decided to give it a go yesterday with the latest patches. And it ran perectly for 5 hours at high settings 4k 60fps. Then it started fucking up. Fps dropped to single digits and it stayed there no matter what i did with the graphics settings. Lovering resolution to below 1080p seemed to be the only thing that would fix it, which is weird and not really a valid option.

Did you encounter the crazy eyebrow and hair glitches? Also, resources/ammo I pick up will not go into my inventory. For a fairly intensive resource management system, that's super frustrating and not ok.

IIRC the crazy eyebrow/hair glitches are from the shaders not being allowed to compile before playing. He let the game compile shaders on both machines in this vid.

Interesting. I’ve had close to zero problems since the first hot fixes. And now works like a charm at 4K on high, no crashes. With a 2080ti and a non gaming CPU (i9 7960X).

If you have a 300 series nividia card like I do chances are you are seeing constant crashes. The Naughty Dog patches won't fix this but Nivida has put a hotfix driver update that should solve the problem if you have a 300 series card and are experiencing crashing like I was.

@@PkOrPvp damn, I know the driver hotfix update was targeting crashes with 300 series cards but have you tried updating your drivers? Try updating your drivers, updating with the three naughty patches patches, turning your in game graphics to low to test stability, stopping all the background apps that you can, and don't use any overlays like Afterburner.

I'm so glad I had few crashes(without bugs) and I was able to enjoy this game. But I have AMD Ryzen 5 5600G, 32GB, RTX 3070 with SSD, I have some settings off or low and the rest medium. I was hoping for medium/high settings. I hope they fix it so that everyone can enjoy this game. EDIT: FULL HD, LOCK 60 FPS.

I played through the last of us on my pc. I got no crashes, but my god, the issues I had were a pain in my ass. Loading screens galore, and I played through the whole game at 40 fps (I have a i3 10100 and a 6600 xt)

Yeah we have a similar set up but I have a 3700x, I actually managed to use all high textures but still my god, it ran fine up until I met bill, and it turned into low 50’s fps sometimes es 40 with horrendous loading screens

4 core 8 thread cpus aren't enough for this game , it is very demanding on the CPU and vram (eats up to 6 gb even on low settings). Tested it on a i7 6700 + RX 580 8GB, never got more than 45 fps on medium settings and even on the lowest settings. The RX 580 can push the fps somewhere between 50 & 60 fps (with some drops into the 40s) on 1080p medium + FSR2 (testet it with the RX 580 on a Ryzen5 3600X later on and got better results than on the i7 6700 and my gpu was fully utilized). Quadcores are dieing right now (at least in gaming), their era is long gone.

I’ve completed the game 3 ish times (the last time I was completing achievement so I went back and forth and skipped some sections) and I’ve had 2 crashes, multiple frame drops but doesn’t go below 40 ish frames.. it usually stays around 45-60 I’ve noticed stutters every now and then but isn’t horribly but it is noticeable. I play on high settings with a 1660 Super and an I5-10600KF.

I finally played through the PC version yesterday. Before then, I kept trying to play it and it would always crash. After update 1.2 though, I gave it another shot and kept playing until the end, no more crashing, and the performance was perfect.

I really wonder if video game studios absolutely have to release their games to meet certain deadlines no matter what, considering the recent examples of Rockstar, CDPR, and now ND. From a management standpoint, you have to have an absolute deadline at some point. Resources aren't unlimited. On the other hand, you have to be completely blind, clueless, or do not care at all if the game development you are overseeing is obviously not in the best shape and you still release the game.

Companies have to little to no backbone to just tell their shareholder to have some fucking patience when they develop these games, which is even less forgivable when we consider this "remake" a terrible port when it would have a fraction of the development cycle of a new AAA I.P release. Honestly it's becoming egregious and costing even more money for them like what makes them think they will turn a sizeable profit if an entire community shits on it after its release you're only getting the initial sales at launch where as if the game was completed and probably optimized. The life span of which willing purchases will be made last longer, now the potential amount of consumers will drop cuz we've all heard how awful of a job they did.

So ever since one of the more recent patches, when the game loads to the main menu, I hear the audio in the background but the screen is completely black. I can move my mouse around the menu like I'm navigating it but I obviously can't do anything because I'm blind by the black screen. Any suggestions?

lmaooo that key drop bug reminded me of that infamous prince of persia forgotten sands.. where u have to quickly parkour ur way to door before it closes.. if u miss it.. u stay stuck in that area forever.. like legit u need to play game from the beginning again cuz that game never had manual save option.. that game was decent but 1 single bug completely ruined its reputation

I spoke to a beta tester months before this was released on PC. According to the testers it was running perfectly, but I remembered that these guys get top of the line PCs to test with. But I question, was the game actually playable despite these testers having monster machines? Was the vram usage properly optimised? I have a feeling beta testers get good versions to play with compared to what happens at release.

@wiren Your experience doesn't represent the average then, while re4r is pretty resource intensive most people with at least decent rigs have no issues at all while tlou:p1 is absolutely plagued with bugs and crashes to the point of being nearly unplayable. Just because it has miraculously worked fine for you doesn't mean it's a good port or that you need to counter signal people who warn people about it.

For people that are having crashes on the 30 series cards, update the nvidia drivers to the hotfix they provided and make sure you have the latest version of the game, it helped me with the crashes, it did crash maybe only once for a couple of hours this time, as for the performance it is not the best still, but I could manage to have +80 FPS. My specs: R5 5600X, RTX 3060 TI, 32 GB RAM (3200mhz).

after the first crash game asked me to start in safe mode and clicked yes, and i have not faced these issue, my cpu and gpu are roughly at 50% VRAM is at max cause i have 3060 6 GB on my laptop, game is running mostly fine with no graphical glitches, i dont know if you can manually run it in safe mode but if yes try it.

I finally downloaded it and tried it out this week (Oct 2023) and it runs pretty great on my setup (RTX 3090 and Ryzen 9 7900x). All settings fully maxed out, and 4k.

It takes a little over an hour to build shaders on my RTX 3080 machine. I have 10 hours of play in the game, of which only 6.5-7 are actually playing. I've spent over 3 hours total building shaders multiple times.

i run this game in 2560 × 1440, DLSS(Balanced), HDR, mostly high settings 30fps with my 2070 super Ryzen 7 3700 and throughout the game I encountered Only 1 Bug But when I got to left behind It's stopped running as good and I had to turn the settings way down (I finished the game for the ferst time Yesterday)

8 gb vram is the new entry level now , with 32 gb ram and 16 gb vram the game run so so fucking smoothly the graph chart was so stable it was the best i ever seen in a while

Funny, cause back in 2013 I had this exact same bug happen to me in the OG version of the game (except it was folding doors not showing the prompt) so I ran around for like half an hour trying to solve a puzzle that didn't exist. 🙃 Bugs like these in linear games are the worst.

i brute force this game with a 7900x and a 4090, and it ran fine. My wife on the other hand got r5 and 2060, and it was stuttering so bad its literally unplayable. dont waste your money if you dont have at least 30series + gpu.

Played 30 hours with very little trouble. 3 crashes. After the final patch and the nVidia hot fix it worked better than ever however it took nearly 2 hours to load the shaders after that update. Strix 3080 and a 10 series i7

the mouse stuttering was fixed for me when i turned on mouse raw input, deactivate controller support in steam and controller in settings of TLOU. also dont let controller plugged in

Expecting to run a modern AAA title to run on a GPU from 2016 never ends well. It's not the games fault , gtx 1070 is a very weak card in 2023.

Still gnarly after updating with the Nvidia hot fix and the 15gb patch, running on a 3090/Ryzen/32GB. Glitchy and unable to use a controller properly. Keeps giving me keyboard prompts. Unable to run for whatever reason. Frame rate has taken a battering, was quite high, now much, much, lower and stutters, not as bad, but still does in places. As much as I love this game and wanted to experience it on super wide screen on my monitor, it's a mess and will likely come back to it later in the year.

Latest patch worked for me (i7-10700 / 32GB RAM / RTX3080 10GB) I'm using some optimised settings from another KZfaq video and can run stable 4K30+ (without DLSS) and with VRR

Wait, you can't tell the controller issue is fixed? Even on your 4090? Oh man, I think it's night and day. I too had a quest item bug after the patch and just had to restart the checkpoint. However, I never played the game before and I was legitimately stuck for half hour before I finally looked it up. Found out a crate didn't spawn that I was suppose to move because some manaquin head was freaking out and this was in the Left Behind DLC at the electric water part. But, only bug I came across since release.

It looks like he is using the performance monitor from the Microsoft Game Bar. I find the metrics questionable using this. GeForce experience performance overlay seems to be more accurate.

I still have hopes that one day in the next 6 months I’ll be able to buy this game and play through it for the first time. I was hyped for release and wanted to buy it right away. Something in my head told me to wait a day to see if any issues and I’m thankful I did.

All ready have it on pc i have run into alot of issues but I loved it when it first came out and all I got to say is get this game they will get a patch that will fix it eventually just stick with it

Damn, thats just sad. I am glad I played it on PS3 back in the day. But i really would've loved to play it again on PC like a lot of other people. But since i have a lot of other games i wanna play, i guess and hope it runs perfectly when i return to it

Never forget Iron Galaxy built the instruction sets for gardians of the galaxy and nvidia 900 series gpu's run like donkey doodoo.

Was crashing every 10 mins before the patches but did not have the mouse lag now we have had some patches no more crashing as long as i dont go over the vram target playing on all high settings except textures are medium and and getting over 60fps with dlss on quality so a lot better but it is a bad port.

i5 12600k - RTX 3080 10GB VRAM. High settings 1440p no DLSS(it seems to run better without DLSS for me). Average around 64fps but dips to 40 - 50 in some areas. Before the most recent update I had one crash in the menu system during 20hrs of gameplay and shaders took 20 - 30 mins. Since newest update I have had around 8 crashes(in game and menu) in 10hr of gameplay and shaders took 5mins.

Exactly what i am talking about your rig is not bad but they only focus on top of the line hardware people with 3090 and 4090 should not test games because the will never understand us and can not compare people should do something about it i say stop buying games and hardware for 2 years and they will start taking people seriously

Mine not so great rig, i5 10400f, rx6600xt, 32gb ram. Playing at high. 60fps+ most of the time (notice 3 area it droped to 40'ish fps), already in the middle of the game and only crash twice, 1 glitch, no gampeplay bug since I start playing. I considered it playable.

I completed the game nn RX 6800 Overall 1 crash and few loading screens on last third of the game. Also mouse jitter is problematic but i got used to it. Otherwise plays ok. VRAM is a major problem if you have 8GB. Bad for NVIDIA players mostly.

I also completed the game on RX 6800. I had one crash right after the death of Joel's daughter, Sarah, during the title screen sequence. I did not notice any problems with the mouse or keyboard. It plays like any other normal game. The problem I have is with the loading screens in the early third of the game, which breaks the immersion. The biggest problem, however, is with the loading times. My cpu is the i5-9400f. I had to wait 80 minutes to complete shader compilation and loading a level from the main menu takes 10-12 minutes. Totally unacceptable. Those who are playing with 8th and 9th gen i5 cpus without hyperthreading should skip this game.

Im currently running through it on a 6800xt that I just bought and my experience has been great, no lag, crashes, no loading screens, butter smooth FPS. High/ultra high settings. But when the game first released I had a 1660 and it was crash city, wouldnt build shaders, couldnt even get out of the menu screen. I had about 8+ crashes to desktop, so I ended getting a refund on the game.

@@just_tom00 Shades? Are you talking drivers? Im fully up to date with the AMD drivers. 23.4.3. Ive already finished TLoU and the extra chapters, whole game played fantastic for me. With only 1 crash(Right when Joel's brother hands him the picture of his daughter when they meet up). Besides that, I had 0 issues with the game. And have had 0 issues with every other game Ive played.

First time through I had that same key bug. Once I restarted the checkpoint it worked ok. BS. It is my first time playing this game and I did exactly what you said and ran around trying to find some alternate route. Hint kept pointing there and I was like "there must be a path underground that leads to underneath him. Finally decided it must be a key he drops and restarted the checkpoint. Very frustrating.

Its crazy, Ive played the game twice on ultra with 3080 ti and had no problems at all. No crashes, glitches or anything. I think there may have been two quick stutters, but other than that nothing.

Yup super smooth experience on 5800x3D + 6800xt at 1440p with ultra settings. Solid 60fps, game looks absolutely beautifull.

5700x, 3600ti at 4K DLSS and optimized graphic settings the game runs butter smooth and beautiful at 60fps. This is PC life, fix, tweaking is expected.

No if you have an Intel 12th and 13th gen system depending on what app you're using to monitor the cpu usage reporting is wrong. Usually staying from 0 to 5% no matter what your doing. I can guarantee if your building shaders cpu usage is not 0 to 5%
