In the Maasai culture they use twigs from trees to bright their tooth, totally natural with no toothpaste. They have such beautiful teeth and smiles, I decided I needed to try this for 5 days straight. This is my experience.

Petrena, you should pay a visit to John and Fritzi St. Julien, who run Uchira Children's Village (& dog rescue) up near Moshi, since you are in Tanzania. They have been ceremoniously inducted into Masai culture and are big friends of the Masai and they have a channel on KZfaq so you can have a look - John St. Julien Baba Wanyama - I've heard of this kind of toothbrush, but never seen it. Your African videos are so, so good!! You should start an ecological tooth brush company back in Canada.

In Andhra Pradesh we used neem tree stick or pongamia tree stick ( it us called kaanuka tree) fir brushing the tree in golden fussy. Still it is used for in villages till today

We got a similar shrub in my village, we use its twigs to brush our teeth. It gives off mint taste and red dye but whitens teeth too.

You can reuse the twigs. I would just cut the used end off and re-fray it.
