Great to get to show you the Infinadeck and tell you the company story. Watching the celebrated "Nathie" play Half-Life Alyx on the Infinadeck was actually kind of inspiring for us in the office and re-captured the magic of physical movement inside VR for me. As you hinted at, even as a really small company still, we hopefully have quite a lot more to come this year.

I hope I can work for you guys one day ;)... PUSHING THE ENVELOPE OF WHAT'S POSSIBLE! Definitely buying me one when the price drops ;)... OR when I make a game that makes me a millionaire. I have a dream of owning like 6 of these and having game nights with the family and friends... then project all their screens onto a theater screen where everyone else can chill and cheer on their favorite player. Keep up the great work. ALSO... Idea... Get rid of the ring and replace it with a bungie cable/rope system attached to a waist and back/shoulder harness and be able to allow a user to jump, and through the pullies control how long they're in the air, as well as soften the landing, as well as make it so players won't fall on their face ever ;). OHHH MAN THAT'D BE SOOO COOL!!! Then make a game like Assassin's Creed, or The Matrix... Dragon Ball Z... be flyin around... maybe have it come with a circular wall you could run on... do flips hahaha! One day ;)

@@Gaze73 Stuff that's produced in very low numbers for very specific markets tend to be 10x the price you hope for. Cost only becomes "reasonable" once you can sell tens of thousands of something. It's brutal. The first full motion racing rigs were also unbelievably expensive, now you can get a full motion rig for far less than 4 grand. Back in early 2000s they were never below 20k.

The price point makes sense. Probably the biggest limitation to making this commercially viable is not the device itself, but the regular maintenance it likely requires.

I think that I know how they could solve the latency problem. they need to have trackers on your feet and have the physical space of the treadmill defined in space, so as you pick up your foot and move it, they will be able to move the treadmill so that your foot never leaves that spot in space. Basically simulating how walking normally works. You lift your foot and then use the other foot to push away the ground to propel yourself forward, this would just add an equal and opposite reaction force to prevent forward movement.

Part of the point of this is that it doesn’t need any kind of foot tracker. Otherwise, that would work very well, which is why most other companies using a similar idea have done just that.

Given they're now doing hand tracking with cameras, I assume they could do something similar with sensors around the treadmill... of course that doesn't help bring the price down.

i totally agree. foot tracker are way better then image based tracker. for image based tracking you would need high speed cameras that work well in low light environments and a pc strong enough to process all that data plus the games

@@jowiemonster The quest 2, Quest 3 and quest pro offer quite decent image hand tracking and they are I think the cheapest reliable headset on market rn (especially the quest 2), So I think you don't need some super fancy and expensive material for an image foot tracking, maybe just some decent infrared camera ?

so i have this idea... tons of rubber balls with copper mesh on top of them inside teflon half circles that have copper electrodes, as the rubber glides over teflon these copper meshes rub against one another, the player wears a special sole that conducts electricity into the system bridging the gap using the mesh on the ball and going into the teflon cups, right below that is the base frame where all these are wired, each ball is like a pixel, when they spin and charge is applied by the user's foot through the conuctive sole, it basically registers data that you can pick up in a specially designed board.. This would give you wayyyyy better tracking resolution and would also make it entirely free to move slide and basically switch to any direction... you can have brakes inside the teflon cups that reactively stop based on movement data... if you take this entire system and house it over multiple pneumatic pistons.. you can even raise levels of the floor and have it react like actual stairs and give you the impression of walking up stairs or over rough terrain and such... dumb idea i know... but if you like itt and think it might be viable, hit like, let people know about it.. let's see it gett made :D ,

@shojo8708 I had mixed feelings about the tethered method. It was what worked at the time, but I wanted to look into different tracking methods personally. Wasn't really my responsibility, though.

Ready player one is my favourite movie, simply for the fact that the oasis and the omnidirectional treadmill are very achievable feats as technology and A.I advances. My estimate is that we are about 5 years out from it being a reality. I wonder who will be the first person or group of people to create a real life version of ready player ones Oasis... It is literally going to change society!

While I'm very interested in the omnidirectional treadmill, I'm skeptical that the oasis will ever be made. Its sheer scale and the sheer number of possibilities make it an absolutely enormous undertaking. That said, there may be something similar available now in stuff such as VRChat and Resonite. I'm sure there are others, but those are the only two I know... I've only been in VR twice, so take my words with a grain of salt.

@Wilfoe I've only experienced VR once to be fair. Although I do like to believe that the use of NFT and blockchain technology could vastly improve the possibility of an oasis like platform. Even more so, with the "upcoming" advancements in quantum computing. It would certainly be interesting to see where it all leads.

@@TheOriginalJi Out of curiosity, how do you think NFTs and blockchains would help? Quantum computing is certainly an interesting subject, though as I understand it, the main benefit of quantum computers is that they can do more at once, not necessarily that they are faster.

@@Wilfoe So lets say gaming moves from having "in game characters" that the player chooses, to players having one avatar that could be used in any game that they play. so instead of cross platform games, it's a cross platform avatar. Let's also say that companies/brands/artists create digital assets of items that you can buy in real life.. say you bought a new outfit, you also get an NFT of each item you purchased and those digital assets could then be loaded into your avatars item storage. The avatar would then be able to wear that outfit/ those items. Blockchain would just make it extremely secure. Quantum computing would more than likely enable us to run the necessary software/programs simultaneously enabling these systems to work alongside each other seamlessly. Imagine an advanced version of No mans sky's' procedural generation using quantum computing, secured by blockchain and players having a cross platform/ inter-platform avatar that would have access to digital assets of skins, clothes, cars, guns, knives.. literally anything, all because you own an NFT of that product. which could be used in any game. There might need to be a json file created when the NFT has been purchased to enable the items to be used cross/inter platform. again, I am no expert. Just thinking outside the box/hoping this could happen someday!

@@TheOriginalJi I think that would be possible without NFTs or blockchains. It would require that all of the games be compatible though. That may prove difficult with everyone wanting to make their own games their own way. That said, it is certainly the ideal for them to all be interconnected. Again, games like VRChat seem to do that. It may be worth it to look it up on KZfaq. I don't know much about NFTs or blockchains, but as I understand them, they're both records of purchases, rather than the purchased items themselves. They take up a lot of resources, so I wonder if there's a more optimized way to accomplish the same thing...

I almost forgot about the omnidirectional treadmills, however seeing the footage shown in this video of using that treadmill to play VRChat in a similar way to Ready Player One, makes me somewhat hopeful that these omnidirectional treadmills become more available in certain areas. It would be nice to actually perform better interactions with my friends whom I met in VRChat and not have to just move using a keyboard or controller like I have the past couple of years.

When I first saw the movie, I liked it, enough to watch it a few times and remember for a while, even tell some friends about, but I enjoyed the film as a gamer. Not much thought into it then that, I'm not a movie person and just wasn't into VR and crypto and such... BUT I never even paid attention to who made it, until I saw this and you said that. It's great to see him making movies that have the messages in it that is Steven. I knew I took the time to watch it and enjoyed it for a reason, as in if i watch a movie there normally has to be a good one. Cause I still enjoy my OG artists and film makers at heart.

If you're interested in SAO full dive you should look into the Glaea headset, using some sort of open software that the Neuralink is using. Very cool concept. I'd say we are halfway there, or almost at least. We can now read the info the brain send our body but not send info into the brain yet.

Ive found as ive gotten used to VR I lost the super special feeling. I realized it was mainly because at first, i used to try to move as much as I could normally like the real world. As time has gone I find myself sitting in vr way more often so I lost that feeling.

Yeah sitting is way more comfortable. My solution is to play games like population one, where sitting will only hold back your reaction time. Standing feels a lot better then.

I've never had that problem because I forced myself to always use my treadmill for every single foot movement I perform. I'm at a point now where moving with the analog stick would feel like a very foreign experience for me, and therefore, I have no desire to do so.

This would add to the weight & bulk- but they should try an automatic rotation feature, so the thin tracks always face front & back aligned with the player’s hips. (Would keep the latency / resistance low)

It's great for simulating walking on the flat. What is the experience when walking up a hill? You have to push your hands against that safety bar as the feet push against the moving floor? I think that's the next step in the evolution of this treadmill. Servos/hydraulics to tilt the treadmill to an angle that matches the ground. You could say a stair climber effect. The tilting of the treadmill is not a problem. The task is making the system aware of the ground in VR and the person's orientation to provide a matching surface footing.

There's a stretched flat ball version which has a slightly concave disk and 8 rollers inside it with 8 rollers outside it. Basically, it is designed to have minimal parts and minimal noise while giving the perfect impression of walking on a leveled ground... even to lay flat on.

I'm just wondering if adding foot trackers could help with the latency. And having said that, I had another thought, pressure sensors that could go under the shoe. Something that could be strapped to the shoe that could communicate how much weight each foot is holding. The combination of waist, both feet position and both feet pressure could provide a decent picture of intent for the system. Foot out, pressure increasing, likelihood of moving forward increases. Sudden reduction of weight = sudden halt of forward travel.

a while ago i had an idea for a hologram treadmill that would morph its shape to the ingame environment so that you could touch walls walk up and down stairs and stuff like that that would be very cool you just kinda have to worry about falling

its certainly makes more sense than simply teleporting to the next area when you can actually walk on a tech that its real and based off treadmill and not some fancy tech that costs millions of dollars rather than a few hundreds or thousands making it somewhat available to companies and maybe the general public

interesting tech. i think it needs to be about a foot bigger all around. integrating with some sort of suit and/or foot sensors like the cheaper ones might solve the stopping lag issue - like a double toe tap to stop. Mind you, it sounds like they may be integrating tech like Rokoko into the next gen version so if that is the case, then maybe a headset and exo-skeleton type gloves (for trigger action/input type movements) will be all that is required. Treadmills are notoriously bad for knees but that might be why they have the slower speeds.

I’d love to have this and be able to play the quest 3 with it! I’d have it built into the floor in my living room! 🤣👌 have a carpet or something covering it up when not using the VR as to not have it in the way n stuff. Of course, not for today, but in the future, the technology of this trendmill being in the boots you can wear, instead of a giant device you climb on. About sitting or standing up, a weareable chair would suffice (they already exist, it just need to have a simplier design, instead of looking like you're wearing a sci-fi exo-eskeleton).

Why are the trackers on the torso and not the feet? It seems to me that tracking foot movement would make anticipating the required tread movements quicker and more accurate. I imagine that some method of both feet and torso tracking will be necessary in the future if they hope to get rid of that latency problem.

I've been living through virtual worlds for most of my life now due to being physically disabled, it's very dangerous for me to go out on my own which results in me not really getting much chance to exercise, with something like this I would be able to get that feeling of being outside walking around but in places like Skyrim and Night City, I'm just hoping VR comes to Cyberpunk 2077 by the time I have saved up for my haptic suit and some form of treadmill

If you have a BCI you don't need VR hardware. You play Skyrim BCI version while your body goes to work, does the chores, exercises, etc.

This is really cool! And in a way; This is a good way to lose weight too. Since your playing on a treadmill. And it will have slightly fast speeds if you want to really try it as a actual treadmill.

How do you think this compares to the Disney HoloFloor? Granted, HoloFloor works with two or more people, BUT I THINK this (infini deck) would be more natural than a system trying to keep you in one spot. Also if they are trying to match speed and acceleration, why not track the feet, no special shoes.

The small latency wouldn't be an issue when you stopped walking if they supplied an overhead harness.

Now if you combine it with something like the Galea headset you could probably get rid of all the cameras, since the headset reads your brain waves and converts it to usable inputs, like moving arms and legs.

надеюсь кто то из компании этой дороги прочтет. ваш продукт нуждается в доработках, я надеюсь вы включили в планы обучение дороги с помощью искусственного интеллекта, для предугадывания движений. это как вариант улучшения точности отслеживания(предугадывание) потребуется не один трекер на пояснице а по меньшей мере 4. на коленях и стопах. удачи.
