Welcome to another episode of Trailmakers! Today I am trying to build the fastest dragster I can for the old drag race on Race Island. This race has been around a while so the leaderboard is much more established and competitive. Will I be able to make it to the top 1%?

Trailmakers is about building very awesome vehicles and machines, but you don’t need an engineering degree to get started. The intuitive builder will get you going in no time. Everything you build is made from physical building blocks. Each block has unique features like shape, weight and functionality. They can be broken off, refitted and used to build something new. Individually the blocks are fairly simple, but combined the possibilities are endless.
Expedition Mode is the challenging campaign mode of Trailmakers. You are competing in an off-world rally expedition with only a few building blocks to get you started. You must build, tinker with and rebuild your machine to progress. Journey through a big world, overcome deep gorges, angry wildlife and dangerous weather to progress and find new parts that will juice up your machine. The world in Expedition Mode will test your survival skills and ingenuity.
Sandbox Mode is where you want to head for an unrestricted, sandbox, vehicle-building experience. Here you can build anything you can dream of, and play around with it in the world of Trailmakers. It is a great place to test out crazy machines, and experiment with the physics engine. With tons of different blocks, hinges, thrusters and interactive vehicle parts - the skybox is the limit.
Trailmakers is even more fun if you play it with other people. Build cool vehicles and compete in mini-game modes with your friends or other Trailmakers online. Build a helicopter, send it to your friend, and shoot them out of the sky. Put two seats on a tank, and let your friend control the turret. As we get further in Early Access development Expedition Mode will also be adapted to multiplayer.

In higher leagues you NEED more powercores on your car, i guess causing glitches to be less efficient

I firmly believe the devs should have a separate "Glitch" League. The way it works now, it really discourages competition. They can't detect all glitches. But even the most blatant ones would help.

@@bescotdude9121 Nah, that wouldn't help. They'd have to detect the gliches on a 1-by-1 basis. Detect, UFO-engines, the 0-drag glitch and so on. Even just those two would help massively. Though, they'd also either detect that retroactively, or invalidate all current times.

So I was experimenting with the wheel being behind a thruster and I'm pretty sure the thrust from the thruster has wind dynamics too, so when the wheel spins, the thrusters air rotates until it reaches another point of contact which is the ground. I could be wrong but this is what I've tried learning from it.

What I was thinking is that only one wheel has to be on he ground when you start the race, but what you do next is fair game if you can just hit the checkpoints. I was thinking about a vehicle that lifts off the ground the moment the race starts, and flies to the end. They are usually a lot faster because you don't have to worry about rolling resistance.

If you try a hover race, you should consider using the 2 power core boat propellers skimming the water. Really efficient use of power cores and you can steer with them too.

I think the hover race and the sub race could be very interesting to see. Also I suspect that the lower leagues are more dominated by glitches because the normal mechanics have less room to work, making the difference between a glitched build and a normal one bigger, so maybe avoid those? Actually, I'm kind-of curious what a space league hover race would look like. At that point, figuring out how you're going to control the thing is going to be just as important as figuring out how to go fast and I don't think you've really faced that part of the challenge yet.

With the raw jets its better not to let them overheat because they cool quicker when deactivated before overheating. Therefore, you can just "feather" the throttle to get the most potential out of them.

You could consider dropping parts, like the wheel after the start or the RAW engine after it runs out. That one's pretty heavy.

Not yet using the experience of mixing electric and combustion engines to get a better acceleration profile. Looks like a Dragon Jet mixed with propellors would be great.

Space thrusters are better than dragon engines if you have limited space but dragon engines are better if you have limited power cores

I have a question does your entire car body need to be on the ground or does it just test if a wheel is touching cause if it's just testing the wheel you could make it overextend backwards and when you reach the apex of the field you lower the wheel making the race start with you ahead and then you can use a dispatch block to break the long tail further accelerating you ahead? Or am I thinking wrong?
