Surprisingly, ‪@PangaTAS‬ made ANOTHER level I felt confident enough to try...and not only that I decided to try and beat it in one shot (they don't call me One-Shot Johnson for nothing baby!)

The one thing that makes Dave that skilled at Mario is his confidence. If he know that something is possible, he knows he can do it. He has *determination*, and this is why we love him. You're great Dave! Keep at it, and no Jericho will stop you!

I really enjoy the ending where he talks about being careful about who you idolize such as other twitch streamers and all. Cause he is 100% correct, we are all human and even these streamers who are famous have their own personal issues they deal with. Some to major extremes and other much less. Even though we don’t always see it during their streams doesn’t mean they don’t have things going on in the background. So I applaud him for making people aware of this, esp. the younger crowd who watches him play. As younger kids are more influenced by these people they see on twitch and want to be like them. When really they need to learn to be their own individual and make their life their own, not because someone they saw on the internet do something.

I don't want someone to be good at games like, someone who can beat any game super fast, I just want him to be good enough so he can play and beat the game eventually, but what I really care about, even if he doesn't have a good internal timer, is someone that makes me laugh and have a good time watching his videos, and you certainly are like that, thanks Dave for your amazing work!

Exactly. I don't watch him because I want amazing players, he's just very entertaining especially how he deals with his setbacks and, for the most part, doesn't let them stop him trying levels above his skill rate.

Okay Dave, just have to give you a quick reality check regarding your skill level. Your self-assessment was a 5.5 on a scale of 1 to 10? You just beat a level all in one go that had a clear rate of 0.08% among players using the checkpoint. Among the entire scope of Mario Maker players, I would say a more accurate assessment is that your skill level is a 9, while streamers like Ryu and Panga are 9.8 and ThaBeast basically 10. And while it's true that you're only as good as you are because of playing the game so much... I mean, that's also true of those others I mentioned. Just sayin'. :-)

@@Renusek I haven't watched every high level streamer, including Lil Kirbs. I wasn't providing an exact rating for everyone, just something very general (I only used a seemingly more specific 9.8 figure because it had to be between 9 and 10 *if* Dave was a 9) - a "more accurate assessment" than the idea that Dave is a 5.5 out of 10 among all Mario Maker players in the world.

I'll give Dave a 7.5 while Ryu and Panga an 8.2. The only reason they're 0.7 rate higher than Dave is because Dave sticks to the chat (not as much as raysfire) and loses his focus in the level. Just to mention that he's only using 1% of his focus because he's really not putting that much concentration into the level. He even talks and remembers stuff during the level, while focusing! If he was concentrating, he would've beat it in half the time. But he gets a 10 in entertainment. On the other hand, Ryu and Panga focus mord on the level and not on the chat. Panga rarely reacts to the chat. They're more focused on precision than the level. They do bad in troll levels and don't try to enjoy it. This may be good for "completing" levels but it's not good for youtube algorithm and the audience. So they get a 3 in entertainment. Finally, always remember what each youtuber's background is. Dave is for trolls and completing levels for the sake of it, while the other two are perfectionists and speedrunners while they don't enjoy the level. Panga boos every level that may look fun, while some are really complete garbage, but likes levels just for giving him three 1-ups. Even though I'm a perfectionist myself, when it comes to watching I prefer entertainment than perfection. Since I'm not the one in control, it's better to see people's reactions and not just a poker face the whole time.

You are mixing "skill" with "potential", or maybe "ease to learn", Dave. Your skill is a solid 7/10 at the very least, even if it took a lot of time to earn it. If someone would reach, say, 8/10 or 9/10 in the same amount of time, it means they have better potential, or are more likely to get better faster, but when they had your skill, it would still had been 7/10 at that point.

Yeah, it's like, even if he dies a lot in a normal level, those troll levels have actually taught him patience and persistence to deal with those where you die a lot just to learn the patterns.

I think there's a discrepancy here between Dave's idea of "one-shot" and Alex's (Panga's) idea of "one-shot." Because Dave clearly meant beating the level _without checkpoints/respawning_ (meaning he did it all in one shot). Alex also says "one-shot Johnson" a lot, but he's generally referring to beating the whole level _on the first try_ (meaning he only _got_ one shot at it). Most recently when he was clear-checking one of his own kaizo levels he was like "yo one-shot Johnson? Two-shot Terry?" (This was especially not unreasonable because he'd been testing out the level as he went, so he'd played through almost the whole thing already.) Just a little context for why people are talking about "oh you died at the first jump haha clickbait haha."

Dave, I don't idolize you, I don't think you're anyone special, but if I saw you in person I would have a hard time not giving you a big hug because you seem like you're an awesome guy who cares (in general) and you consistently bring a smile to my face. I would say you are an excellent player. 8 out of 10 if you ask me. I enjoy playing Mario and other games but I am not as good as you. I’m also blind in my right eye so it’s a little harder to play which is why I like watching you play levels I can’t do

DGR you earn a living playing mario, thats makes you a professional. whether you are skilled is irrelevant but on a scale of 1 to 10 (1 being a total novice and 10 being beast's level of gameplay skill) i'd put DGR at a solid 7/10, able to force your way through tough kaizo but not as skilled as GPB or panga.

Impressive showing Dave and a perfect example of how wrong you are when you say you're 'ok' at Mario. From my perspective I think you've demonstrated on numerous occasions that you are very capable - granted there are the occasional 'Big Dumb' moments but who doesn't have those from time to time. In closing, you shouldn't sell yourself short - at the very least you're one highly entertaining guy and a thoroughly good person to boot - everything else after that is a bonus :)

Its funny cause this actually happened to me as well. I was chasing after the ball in a soccer match and was not looking where I was running and I ran directly into someone so hard I passed out (literally) I woke up on the floor with one of the worst migraines EVER for like 3 days
