In this Slay the Spire gameplay, Baalorlord does an Ascension 20 run with Silent. First, he gives tips on choosing a path and a starting bonus. I’ve realized in this video that I’ve absorbed so much baalor that I know card picks before he says them. But I have a lot to learn on actually play order and fights. He is literally a god. Love the vids so much. Trying to get my first a20 silent heart kill right now. And I’ve got you to thank for getting this far!

Baalor is very good at this game... The most impressive thing about the pros is their ability to track passive relic things like letter opener, Stone Calender, pen nib etc. Just so much experience

I really feel like Ectoplasm should only reduce your gold income by half, rather than entirely blocking any income. Its current iteration seems really bad. I almost never take it.

That or maybe "Whenever you get gold, get 10 less", making regular fights less rewarding but elites and hand of greed moreso relatively speaking.

I recall Baalor suggesting that it only prevented gold from fights. Which I think would be a good compromise. Even just gold from relics and not events would make ecto more take-able.

@@SheyD78 The worst boss relic will always be Tiny House though. There is absolutely nothing about that relic that warrants it being in the Boss slot. It could just be an ordinary rare relic, or even an event relic, and I wouldn't even think anything of it. I take that even less than I take Ectoplasm. I really hope in StS 2 they have a bit of a longer 'tail' on the end of how long they support the game after its 1.0 release, because there are a few things in STS 1 that are extremely underpowered and really feel like they're just fundamentally poorly designed.

YES. The boss relics are the most unbalanced thing in this game imo. If you see bad ones after act 1, even a great run up until that point can be spoiled. I don't like that Pyramid and Pandoras are as op as they are - and I don't like that Tiny House, Ectoplasm, Black Blood, Ring of the Serpent and Busted crown are as bad as they are. If you swap into the latter you win percentage drops by like 30% for example.

Wasn't until the comment about the whetstone and the gremlin horn from spear and shield that my brain poked in to tell me, "hey, you watched this run live. You remember that comment" and by that point I had already watched 40 minutes of this run. Good run.

That time-based idea has merit: imagine an event where you have say 10 seconds to do as much damage to a target as possible and that amount you then get in gold or that many hit points heal.

Finally beat a game with a Rampage deck today. All it took was a masterfully crafted Corruption, Barricade, a couple of Juggernauts, multiple Feel No Pains, a couple of Dark Embraces, Pyramid, and a Dead Branch deck to generate it so I could kill the heart with Rampage.

The time limited turn thing at around 28:00, I have one experience with such a thing, the aptly named anxiety debuff in crush the industry (a promising deck builder in early access for those curious)

My biggest puzzle on that first act is why that late acrobatics was skipped. That's crazy to me. Then again maybe it would not be very helpful on Slime boss. But I think I still would have taken it. Skipping afterimage for nightmare is probably something I would not do either as a first boss reward. Damn, why is it so hard for me to grasp some choices! top content as always!

I don't really join streams but I would like to say thanks for all the knowledge. I got my first A20 win ever today on silent. Killed the heart and even better I killed time eater with a shiv deck. Felt good and here's to many more

He collected a lot of stats for each of his last two years' two personal challenges, including win-rate breakdowns of both cards and relics as well as discussion of when some of said data can be misleading.
