Coming from the energy drink in thailand Krating Daeng (kraw ting dang) made in 1975 and in 1976 krating daeng was made available in thailand.
In 1982 an austrian entrepreneur when travelling to thailand noticed that krating daeng helped ease his jet lag.
So this entrepreneur teamed up with the owner of a pharmaceutical company who developed the drink to bring it to european markets.
What they had to do was reformulate the drink. So what they did from 1984 throught 1987 was take krating daeng, carbonate the water and bring the sweetness down. This formulation of the drink became red bull.
Red bull was officially released in austria in 1987, it was targeted as a drink for young professionals to push through hard working days.
By the early 1990’s redbull reached other european countries and in 1997 Red bull exploded onto the united states market
Now redbull is available in 171 countries, brings in billions of dollars a year and its expanded into many other versions of drinks along with being in motorsports and even a record label red bull records.
At one point the restaurant steak n shake sold a red bull milk shake called the red bull freeze
