I remember one place I worked at to where any time someone brought a MacBook that needed a repair I was the one they called up to repair it. I also did repairs on iPhones and fixing a MacBook did feel similar to the iPhones so maybe that was why. Even so reparing apple products were huge pains because any time I would be tasked on repairing them I had to tell everyone to make sure I am not disturbed and that this may take awhile because of those cables. Store would eventually stop accepting apple computer repairs because there was not enough profit with the time it took to fix them(me fixing a pc laptop for similar issues often took 1/4-1/2 of the time). Ended up doing some of the apple repairs on my off hours and got paid for it so I ended up getting more money since you only got a small commision on doing the repair in store(as of writing this they remove the commission completely)

To replace the keyboard on my computer, an arduous task that the bards will sing about for generations, I need to: - loosen two captive Phillips screws on the underside of the computer. - slide the keyboard toward the monitor. - pull the keyboard up. - unhook the ribbon cable. - remove the keyboard. - insert the new keyboard. - and do the reverse of all those steps and instructions. I know. ThinkPads are terribly difficult to service.

I have a 2015 MacBook Pro. I had a similar issue. Tried to open up the back but one of the screws was seized and wouldn't come undone. Had no choice but to bring it to the Genius Bar. The Genius asked me if I'd like to replace my "vintage" MacBook. I said "No". They took it to examine then called me to confirm it was in fact a loose cable. They charged me $90 to replace it. SMH.

I was doing the same repair today and the same thing happened with the trackpad screws, it's like a booby trap

Replacing the keyboard on those things is a complete pain in the arse! Something like 52 screws holding just the keyboard on! Thats not mentioning the other screws for the case, and other nik-naks you need to move out the way to get to it! You made the right choice in changing the whole palmrest/keyboard assembley!

I have repaired hundreds and HUNDREDS of the 2008 to 2011 MacBook Pros that I can take all the screws into a pile and swap the top case and reassemble in minutes. The new T2 baesd Mac's I really do not like to work on and I make my wife fix them 😂😂😂

If your MacBook does not power on no matter what you do. Try to literally knock on all four corners on the back of the machine. Hard enough to sound like a knock on a door. Turn it on. It is now fixed. I'm not lying.

12 inch macbooks are always a love hate relationship, apple's thinnest and lightest laptop and their most beautiful. yet also their absolute worst in every other aspect
