One thing I'd recommend on that is to put at least one torque arm on the front fork. That fork's kind of weak for that power of motor and that axle is likely to spin out of the dropouts. Also that fork wasn't designed to have a disk brake caliper attached to it so there's a good possibility that repeated use of the front brake will eventually bend or break the fork. There's at least 20+ e-bikes that can compete against the Hyper Scrambler.

I just scored a freebie Marin east peak FRS full suspension mountain bike with a really rusty chain, flat tires and bent drop off (derailluer), but Marin bikes have a special feature to protect the frame from bending when you wack the drop off-a kind of breakaway part or something. . . might just need to tighten a bolt. It's Ninties bike which seems like it has low miles. Unfortunately this model year does not have disc brakes. I am going to be watching a lot of these build videos, meanwhile I am going to buy a new chain, clean it up and ride it as a regular bike for a while. ***you need to primer metal with special bare metal primer before painting.

The HS2 motor is only 1000w with 1800peak probably. I have the Hyperscorpion since 2020. Very similar in power but I recently ordered a Ristretto 512 A20, paid $2800 but it going for $3,395.75 with a 15% discount code. It goes 40mph. Mid-drive motor peaks at 4500w peak with 250N.m of torque. I've test ridden it once at their HQ in Austin, TX and recently at Electrify Expo in Austin the bike is a beast. I can't wait for them to start shipping which should be in end of December/early January.

I like how they make their builds look so easy to put together.

I definitely want to try something like this cause I'm just so against the idea of owning a car. Having to pay for parking, gas, expensive maintenance and then on top of that, registration and insurance. And if it is a custom made ebike, it won't look as sleek and probably will be less likely to get stolen if left out, so I see that as a plus rather than a negative. Being able to go 30mpg for 30~ miles is incredible for the cost. I just wonder how the battery depreciation would be after hundreds or thousands of miles

Great job! i'm trying to make one as well just be careful with the front suspension because I used one exactly like that bike that u used and it basically fell apart as i was bombing it down a hill at full throttle (the one u used looked like it was designed for a kid / tennager) if that breaks just upgrade to a hardtail designed for adults. 😁

You should have told people if they install front motor you need to have steel forks and torque arms otherwise the forks will snap and throw you off as it happened to me at 30mph luckily i was ok not hurt anything but learnt my lesson quickly was my 1st ebike but now i ALWAYS use back motor stay safe guys 👍👍

AMAZING VIDEO, but can you do one for a scooter, as i think would be awsome as electric scooter are normally $300+, so i want to see if you can do it under that amaount of price

So if you did this again with a carbon fiber frame from a road bike would you get up to 50mph? 🤔 I wonder if it would even be sturdy enough to support the added weight of the batteries. Especially if someone lighter, aka shorter, was riding the bike, you’d think you could get a higher top speed out of it. At what speed do we need to start classifying these things as mopeds or some new classification and require helmets and licenses-especially if anyone can just create this at home? So many questions this video has opened up.

Editing 10/10 Bike opinion, you put the battery on the top so it will handle terrible. you put a great case around the battery and then put the controller on the bottom of the Bike in a random spot. You actually even had to weld to put a brake caliper on the bike. 10amp hours isn't 50 miles lol😂

I would be a little worried with riveting the frame of the bike. Won't it crack?

The way the bike was painted and modded for the battery is impressive. I have always thought that bikes with this geometry weren't the best for conversions. Not sure if what you guys did with the brakes were safe or not. I would use adapters instead of modding the frame and fork for disc brakes.
